The Bifrost Multibit only cares about running at it's point of thermal equilibrium. Burn in doesn't really apply here IMO. Burn in is their QC check after doing the upgrade.
I will add that it's not just thermal equilibrium that matters. I found that by switching my input from USB to Coax (using a USB to SPDIF converter), the midrange went even fuller and the harshness / digititis / edginess were even more subdued to the level, making the Bimby even more analog sounding. I find that the Schiit Gen 2 USB is thinner sounding and still has that slight digititis sound to it.

Yeah USB always has some kind of drawback. Schiit is the first to admit that USB is less than ideal. I have also found to prefer using my DX80 as a transport, but still often use USB via a Wyrd. I agree that midbass performance is usually better.
Schiit USB is fine with a good USB source, which general-purpose computers are not. I feed my Bimby with a Sonore microRendu powered by a Teddy Pardo power supply, and quality beats S/PDIF coax from a good USB>S/PDIF converter (Bel Canto mLink).
You will not be disappointed! I've had mine for a couple of months now and am really enjoying going through all my old music and hearing stuff I've never noticed before. When you run across an album that really "clicks" with the Bimby for whatever reason, it's something special. So in a way, the upgrade is *sort of* saving me money by delaying the urge to buy new music at the moment! Obviously, I have found the it to be a very noticeable upgrade and well worth every penny.

I've had the opposite experience, I find I'm buying CDs for the first time in a long while because I want to hear old (vinyl) favourites with the Bimby.

Ok, I will admit I have been doing a bit of this myself...I've been chasing down a few used CDs lately for the first time in ages so I can get lossless copies of old stuff that I ripped to low bitrate AAC or something dumb like that years ago before I knew any better. (Of course my wife got rid of many of my original CDs in occasional fits of decluttering rage over the years since those early bad rips.)
Reminded me how it's kind of sad that most physical media stores have gone out of business in the age of MP3 downloads. There is really only one good music store left in my city now.
Following a discussion on another thread, I decided to put 1 inch separators between my Bimby and the Asgard 2 stacked above it. The Bimby is now much cooler to the touch. I've not listened enough after the change to make a definite call, but detail and coherence seem a bit improved while noise level in very soft passages seems a tad higher.
I already have the iFi micro iDSD. I think it competes really well with the Bimby. I listen to music 90% of the time at work (where the iDSD is), so this was a bit of a financial decision. I will miss Bimby, though. Damn fine DAC.
