rockbox not for me?
now that the software seems to be more or less stable, i went ahead and tried it on my clip+. it is pretty neat, i'll admit, but there are two functionalities that are more easily implemented with the OF.
1. i use mediamonkey to create playlists from my computer library. then i simply click 'send to sansa (external),' from inside mediamonkey, and the software automatically moves the playlist (in .pla format), and the corresponding files to the player, sorted into appropriate folders. in one click i get the same playlists on my desktop on my sansa, from the 'playlists' directory in the OF.
rockbox can only use .m3u playlists as i have discovered. so the only way to 'export & sync' my playlists is to use mediamonkey to export the playlists to .m3u, THEN change the file paths manually in the .m3u's, THEN move the files AND the playlists over to the player. not nearly as simple as one click with the OF.
is there any easier way?
2. the shuffle implementation. about half the time i listen by adding everything on the player to the playlist, then do shuffle all, repeat all, and cycle through everything. sometimes, i want to hear a specific song, so i go 'back to music list' and choose the song title, and click play now. in the OF, this is easy, because the playlist is kept alphabetized. but in rockbox, everything is...well, shuffled. the only workaround i can find is to go back to the database->artists->(all files)-> then find the specific file in this view, and select it to play now. rockbox will then rebuild the playlist, starting with the selected file. everything will be shuffled if the shuffle option is on.
is there an easier way?
it's a shame because i really want the gapless and increased battery from rockbox. but if it's a pain to do these two (simple) tasks, i will probably give it up.
thanks in advace.
