[oddity]

I've had a pair of Samson SR850's for a while now. And while they are not as good as many other brands of headphones, I think they are rather over looked as a good starter headphone. They are cirumaural, partially open backed, 32-ohm headphones. For around US$40 they are a steal. They don't to so well in the higher ranges, but bass and midrange are very good.
 
They are also silly easy to mod. I added 3.5mm jacks to them for a recable, my first recable project ever, and it took me less than an hour.
