I think I am liking the Wavelight more..

Non upsample music, Qobuz.
Streamer endpoint to Denafrips Hermes and i2s to dacs.
Same xlr cables and same power cords to both dacs.

But perhaps still early.. Both the May and Hermes are fairly new. the Rockna sounds a bit more lush throughout the range. Whereas the May sounds very very clean and airy.

Let's see how the next week goes..

The May needs at least 2 weeks of burn-in. So a bit of patience.

Let me add an important development, I replaced the USB cable with Wireworld Platinum 7 now my system sound great, more mid-high definition and harmonics richness I really enjoy this result.

a couple of years ago I used with my previous DAC (aqua La scala Optologic) the platinium version 6 but it sounded too fatigue and not weel controlled in high frequency, and so replaced by Audioquest Diamond. But, let me say that Platinm 7 with Rockna Wavelight and SOtM sMS200 Ultra riach the best result in my digital chain never heard before.

I decided to take a page from my Rockna dealer’s playbook and improve my system’s power supply. I added a High Fidelity Cables MC-1 Pro Helix+ power conditioner to my setup, and that made a big difference in improving dynamics and fleshing out the Wavelight’s sound a bit in the midbass. This DAC seems to be extremely sensitive to its power feed.

I also used a graphene-based contact enhancer on the power and headphone cable plugs.

The combined effect improved the sound to the point that I’ve switched the Wavelight from the NOS filter to the Linear filter.

I guess it's only fair to ask why do you have so many DACs. But then again, no such thing as too many of them in this hobby :D

Next week you need to order a wavedream for the direct comparison :p

Lol.. I don't know why too. Curiosity, I suppose. But anyways, I've only ever had two dacs at any one time. So I guess still within acceptable limits..

Ha ha ha you first!

Was going to suggest the same thing :p

I know how it goes. Being an enthusiast myself I know that there's no shortage of audio stuff I'd like to own :)

Two DACs isn't too much, not at all :D

Not racing there, but who knows. Maybe one day, time will tell.

I promise, if I ever try a Wavedream I'll report my findings here

Me and my friends recently compared WL dac against Hugo TT2 and holo spring and Rockna won quite easy. Chord was close, but Rockna much more musical and more detailed too, Holo is not in their league.

I have begun the face-off between the Rockna Wavelight and the Denafrips Terminator Plus. Both are R2R DACs, but they’re very different sounding.

They’re equally great with details. So far the major differences are: Terminator Plus = richer and smoother, Wavelight = livelier and more dynamic.

Lots of listening ahead to decide which one stays and which one goes.
