The same thing happened to me when installing a beta version of Rockbox. I was able to turn it off and I would hear the processor "click", but then it would turn right back on. What I did was open rkbatchtool before plugging my DX50 in. I would turn it off and right when I would hear that "click" I would hold the volume+ button and plug it in to my computer straight away. Once I did that I was able to return to stock firmware using rkbatchtool.
I've been attempting that, but it hasn't worked out for me. I just noticed though that whenever the DX50 is on it has a slight whine, and I've been using that to determine when it's on or off. Once it powers down it stay down, it doesn't turn back on like I suspected until i connect the USB or turn it on with the power button. Even then I'm still getting the check chip fail. I'm starting to think that maybe it was my unit that was starting to act wonky. I remember that before this happened that whenever I tried to transfer music to and from onboard memory it would cut off and I would need to restart it. Hopefully I can get something resolved through iBasso support.
