Rockbox for iBasso DX50 dual boot with stock firmware

Wow thank you! Finally someone confirming that 1.6.0 works with rockbox.
13hours is mot than I expected. But you were runningstock firmware if you say 240 volume, didn't you?

..........................

Sorry forgot to mention that Rockbox AluminArt used during the test, with volume at -6dB.
It was my habit of converting the "dB", steps from volume of the original stock.

If I am not mistaken, every step of the original firmware volume equivalent to approximately 0.5dB. Therefore, attenuation of -6dB, means reducing the volume about 12 steps, which is 243. While actually performing various adjustments during the test, the control ranged between -6 and -12 dB.

I reiterate my thanks for all the effort.
I will try to prove things to investigate and report possible errors.
  Greetings.

Hi, I have a problem with my DX50, i tried to update it to the latest 1.6 firmware and everytime I update it, the device just restarts and enters CM recovery mode. I have deleted the files in both the DX50 and SD card. I tried factory reseting it but, to no avail. Can someone help me to delte the CM mode in my DX50. Thanks

Have you tried a hard reset, pushing the power button and volume up button at the same time?

Just did rockbox last night and I'm super impressed.  Had to turn the volume up a little to achieve the same (loudness) compared to Mango but no biggies.

Tried a few themes and liked them all.

I was having this small issue previously where I'd have 1/4 sec skips on random tracks (very rarely) but swapping to rockbox seemed to have fixed that.

When I do this, it goes to the CWM-based Recovery Mode. Then when i do a factory reset, the same thing happens

Have you tried using the batch tool to load the FW? If you have a PC or a MAC that that has Windows on it, you can use this to load any FW but it can be tricky at first to get working on your computer. http://www.ibasso.com/uploadfiles/download/DX90-tools.zip

There are instructions on the 1st page of the regular DX90 thread.

There is a problem with the 1.6.0+cwm firmware that I uploaded to sendspace. If you were using this version it explains the problem.
1.5.0+cwm works well.

I tried flashing the CM firmware previously but, it wasn't successful. So, i sticked with iBasso's firmware. Suddenly when I tried to flash the new firmware, this happens

This menu is the CWM menu

Your information is not sufficent. What firmware did you flash with DX90 tool?

-> I'm not sure that any cwm function works expect "install zip from sdcard" and reboot
-> If you have "stock recovery" cwm zip file on your sdcard you can flash this in cwm to get back to stock recovery, then flash any update.img (you can take out the sdcard for this and connect it directly to the pc. Maybe it needs to be formatted to fat32)

Try installing from the CWM, the file "stock_recovery.zip" then reset and any original firmware to use.

File "stock_recovery.zip" here: Resources, firmware and information are available here:

I had problems with my DX50 because of a non iBasso FW I had placed on it. Nothing I did would get it to work. So I reformatted the DX50, which is bricking it but would be like that if there was no way to place a FW on it. the only way to fix it was with the batch tool, which is why I reformatted the internal memory, wiping it clean. Then with the batch tool, I was able to correctly load just the FW from iBasso and it has worked fine.

When i use the batch tool it fails and states: "This operation didn't do, because of not supporting"
Everytime my iBasso is in its CWM Mode, the batch tool does not show that DX50 is connected
How did you manage to flash it?
