Rockbox for iBasso DX50 dual boot with stock firmware

Nov 21, 2014 at 6:27 AM Post #1,291 of 2,020
Thanks for your quick answer, I tried to reinstall the new version after deleting all old Rockbox files and the balance still don't work. The code cleaning may delete a useful part.
The thanks isn't just for the last version but for all your work on this port.

Good news, ArgelErx fixed the balance issue last night. Big thanks to him!
Here are new builds:
ArgelErx's cleanup ps4  or
ArgelErx's cleanup ps4 + my modern_ui
prerequisites: installed Firmware 1.5.0 with CWM by @DOC2008  &  dualboot-app (post #1276 )

The good thing is that the new update mechanism is not too complicated. Follow all these steps one by one:

  • extract the zip file to the internal drive of your player and overwrite all files

Theoretically you don't even need to reboot.

Nice Job.

I have noticed an other bug ( I know i'm annoying
devil_face.gif
) with the new "hold" setting, I select "touchscreen only", when i touch the screen where the button read/pause is supposed to be, the song is played/paused. The "hold" button (for me the on/off button) just cut off the screen but not the touchscreen.

Just to clarify this:
- DX50?
- Hold Switch Mode: Touchscreen Only?
- Hold Switch engaged (in the upper/locked position)?
- The device reacts to the touchscreen?

Which Touchscreen Mode do you use (Absolute Point/3x3 Grid)? Which Theme?

I can not reproduce this.

Can someone else please check this behaviour.

Edit

Ah, its to early here, just notice this: The Hold Switch Mode setting is meant for the physical hold switch. What you want is under Settings ->General Settings -> Display -> LCD Settings -> Sleep (After Backlight Off).

No prob.

Thats one of the things that has changed: Backlight and touchscreen are now (mostly) independent. Touchscreen works even with backlight off. How long can be adjusted with Settings -> [...] -> Sleep (After Backlight Off).

The new firmware 1.6.0 has arrived. For those who care, here's a modded version with the bad old CWM (and theoretically adb enabled, but usually does not work in OF, in Rockbox yes!) get it: dx50_1.6.0_cwm.zip (you know: at your own risk)  edit: don't use it, see at the bottom of the post
The good news regarding rockbox is that everything still works
redface.gif
(at least playback and playing around a bit are what i've tried)

To fresh up your memory how to upgrade when you have cwm:
  1. get the update.img and the stock recovery(get it from here). The update.img to the root of the external SD card
  2. flash stock recovery in cwm:
install zip from sdcard / choose zip from external sdcard
  3. reboot to stock recovery
  4. update firmware
  5. reboot , reboot to cwm and flash the dualboot-app
This new one is needed if you want Mango to work too:
    cwm_rb-bootloader_1_6_0_sdcard_2014-11-24.zip
This bootloader works with the build from post #1292 (rockbox itself does not need to be updated)

If you are exclusively using rockbox, there is no need at all to upgrade the firmware. It is a minor upgrade anyway.

Edit: there is a problem with the firmware dx50_1.6.0_cwm.zip.  It will probably not work. Wait for an update!

Edit2: here's the update: post #1367

Regarding sound, I don't think it is minor, IMO anyway. :^)

If the sound is different with 1.6 will Rockbox based off of 1.6 sound different as well?

You say the CWM is old and bad, what exactly does this mean for me? I'd like to dual boot with Rockbox and 1.6, but I'm not sure exactly what you mean.

update firmware (with update.img from dx50_1.6.0_cwm.zip) : ok
reboot to cwm and flash the dualboot-app cwm_rb-bootloader_1_6_0_sdcard_2014-11-24.zip : say aborted..... system crash !!!

reinstall stock recovery then update.img from dx50_1.5.0_cwm.zip then cwm_rb-bootloader_sdcard_2014-10-13.zip : ok

I use "ArgelErx's cleanup ps4 + my modern_ui"
