  Hi guys! Finally gotten my zmf. Just wanted to say a big thanks to Zach for this pair of headphones.

 
You're welcome!  BTW, it took a month and a half for them to get to Singapore via USPS First Class.  From now on I'm only using Priority and above for international orders....not worth the wait or hassle!
 

On another side note, I noticed me and Zach have the exact same Bluecell Dual Headphone Stand!

 
It's a sweet cheap stand.  I think I may buy another and try to put some sort of weight drilled into the bottom, the thing just isn't heavy enough to stay stagnant on the table!

That's not realy that unusual. When I buy something that has to be shipped from the USA to the Netherlands, I know it can take up to two months to arrive.
And I have no problem with that.

I shipped a package first class to Japan on the 15th of december and it got there the 20th, and then this one took since November the 21st or so to get to Singapore.  According to USPS the first class packages are not guaranteed in any amount of time, where-as priority is...and it's track-able to a further extent.... anyways I digress!  Just worries me the ambiguity of it all!

Just got a pair of HM5 pads to switch out with the Alpha pads since I'm starting to feel that the extra warmth is veiling the sound a bit. After about 5 minutes of wrestling with the headphones, I was able to get the pads to stretch enough to be able to go completely around the cups. I do miss the spaciousness, but I'm in love with the mids again even without the extra warmth.

DANG, you must have strong hands...are they super tight?  Maybe I'll give it another try although the glue gun method has worked well and made them easily removable.  Love those HM5 pads, did you ever have a pair of the old version of those?  Apparently people liked them even more if that's possible.

At first I didn't think it'd work, but they take surprisingly well to stretching and with some finger gymnastics holding the edges in place while placing the rest of the pad on the cup (I'm certain you'd be able to do it since you play guitar), it fits perfectly fine! The drivers are closer than when gluing them, which makes them more forward sounding. I'm not sure how well it'd work with the V1, but definitely give it a try if you have a pair that you don't mind possibly mangling! I'll upload pictures tomorrow, but they aren't ridiculously tight. I've taken them off and put them on again a few times comparing the difference between HM5 and Alpha Pads. It's not a pleasant experience, but it's definitely doable. They definitely won't go back to their original shape anymore though. I actually got these used so I have no idea whether these are the old kind or not. What are those like?

OKAY!  I managed to do it as well, it did take some SERIOUS wrestling though.  I don't think I'd be comfortable doing it with the painted sets as I'd be too worried about the finish but they certainly do fit. Spacers below the pads may help with getting the drivers a little further away from the ear.  Thanks for that, it can be done!

Yeah I definitely wouldn't do it to a painted pair. The only reason I did it to my pair is because some of my paint stuck to my Alpha pads and the cups looked kind of sloppy. I'm not sure if spacers will work anymore because there's not much pad left to put anything under because of how much the T50 stretches it, but I'll attempt it in the future!

Those HM5 pads are strong, that's for sure.
When I did the same with DT 770 velour ear pads, I completely destroyed them.

I've noticed putting something under the HM5 pads like foam/rope etc. seems to prolong the life of them a little.  Some people like the way it sounds too.  They are a solid pad.  Originally got them for my he-500 because the hifiman pads are so annoying!

They are durable.  In all honesty though, I ripped one of the HM5 pads trying this endeavor as well!
