Taking a long journey!

Wow, wow, wow! The P-100 arrived in the office this morning and I have just got it home and unboxed it. It is the 2008 Edition which is imprinted in small black lettering on the wooden facia in front and the headphone jacks are both Neutrik.

As Skylab once said, this amp is "Drop Dead Gorgeous", the cabinet is gloss black to a smooth piano finish. Only problem is the power cable is not to our standard and I need to change the plug after dinner before I can take her for a spin.

I am equally excited as my Havana NOS DAC also arrived from Taiwan today and I am now listening to it. This is well worth the expense paid!!! The resolution is fantastic.

Looks like I will be having an enjoyable Easter weekend. Will take some photos when I take the P-100 for a spin.

After 60 hours the Yarland has opened up nicely.I'm using the Grado GS1000 in the 32ohm jack with Amperex Bugle Boy "D" getter EL84's and the Bendix 2C51's as the preamp tubes. This amp gets out of the way and lets the tubes do there thing.Gorgeous midrange and fast taunt bass.Still need more time to break it in though.

First impressions - very promissing, but still early days yet since I have only had it for a few days and still needs burning in. I have used Sylvania 5670's and have not done anything on the EL84's yet, still deciding what I should try.

My intial comments are similar to Fairbanks but as I said it still needs a bit more time. At present as far as resolution is concerned it is very good but the Little Dot MK VI is still ahead. Will need more time!

Thinking about Siemens for the EL84? The sound is actually opening up and changing, still needs to burn in. But I like the progress of the Sylvania 5670's so far

^^^ I have not compared with the 336 SE yet but will do once I roll the EL84's in the P-100 also as it would not stand much of a chance against the present GE 6AS7G and RCA 6SN7GTB combination of the 336SE right now.

Burning in the P-100 using an XLO frequency sweep burn in CD right now. More later.
