Preliminary conclusion: The Violectric V800 beats the Gungnir marginally on SQ. E.g. transparancy, bass texture and vocal cleanness. The difference is not very significant - but it's there. Adding the V800's flexibility (if you want it), that adds another pluss in the right column. I keep both, though. For the sake of good order, the Gungnir is very good. As for the NAD M51: The V800 is closer to the NAD than the Gungnir.Disclaimer: No volume matching. No academic approach. Just subjective - for now.

I have had my Audeze with this stack of two for a few months now...along with Amarra set on Audeze on the equalizer, (a must for me)...at first..I thought there was something missing..I am new to this..and possibly suffer from Dr. dre Syndrome..LOL....(no..I did not own a pair...but could've).
I have to thank all of you for enlightening me...This combination is sooo clean and smooth..when the recording is good the sound is absolutely phenomenal..Listening is like a special treat..to be savored..no fatigue ..just joy! I never talked like this about listeningg to music..so that says it all!

Great thread, and thanks project86 - your reviews are always an absolute pleasure to read.  I'm now also seriously considering putting together a V200 + V800 + LCD-2 rig.  I'm just slightly nervous about my bank account and whether I should perhaps be considering the HE-500 instead of the LCD-2.  I already have the TubeDAC-11, but am guessing that the V800 will be a good upgrade.  Or maybe I should stick with the TubeDAC-11 for now and just get the V200.  It would look so lonely there on its own though!!

I dig both LCD-2 and HE-500, but I think I like LCD-2 more. I just got the latest version and it looks/sounds significantly better than I recall from the last one I had (an early model). V200 makes it sound oh-so-buttery-smooth - love it.

You could run the V200 from the TubeDAC-11 and get good results. It's no V800 but it should still sound quite nice.

So I recently got the V200 amp and planning on upgrading my schiit bifrist to the v800 dac. How would you guys compare the bifrost with the v800 sound wise?
