Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings

Unfortunately, no - I’ll speak with the powers that be to hopefully receive a possible timeframe in the near future. For now, I’ll continue to be content with the v1.0.8 firmware.
If you're referring to the volume steps, I hope they can come up with a 60 vs 120 step choice. I like the 120, but understand the choice to go back. It may be psychological, but I think the 1.0.9 FW sounds a wee bit punchier or forward in a good way. And I wouldn't want to have to go back. That's just me, of course.

I'm not bothered if it has 60 or 120 step volume, it's that the 60 step is louder at any given percentage than the 120.

I.E. 30 out of 60 is louder than 60 out of 120. Going back to 1.0.8 yesterday gave a large increase in volume and when the battery indicator started playing up, going to the 1.0.9 firmware gave a decrease. Why they did that is beyond me, as the driving power of the QP1R was one of it's best features.

I am specifically referring to requesting a future firmware which offers an option of not only a choice of 60 or 120 volume steps, but also at least the maximum volume output of the v1.0.8 firmware.

I’ll be sending in my unit after the Munich show, it works fine for now with the wheel and button dropped into place. Actually they won’t come off even shaking it upside down...
I see here that v1.0.8 is the go to version so I’ll update to that one. I see it on the Questyle site. I also see a 4kb download for the QP1R USB DAC v1.0.8. Is that a separate update or something else?

I don't think there was any difference in the volume between the earlier firmware versions. The drop in volume was introduced with version 1.0.9. However, when I rolled back to 1.0.8, it messed up my battery indicator on my brand new unit with the battery modification already incorporated from the factory. Going back to 1.0.9 resolved the issue.

Was there some limit on the maximum level of the 1R in v0.9 that I wasn't aware of? I hadn't noticed that. Crude pun, but can you amplify?

I can't understand why Questyle either did it deliberately or even worse if it was a mistake, didn't notice. The difference is very noticeable if you roll back to 1.0.8.

With 1.0.9, I was listening at 110 out of 120 and with 1.0.8 it was 45 out of 60 on the same track. That's 91.7% and 75% of maximum volume, respectively. I know that sounds very high, but the music I was listening to is mastered quite low. I just mention it to give a little perspective.

Can't someone with the appropriate skills look at the 1.0.9 firmware and incorporate the code from 1.0.8 that controls the volume?

The reason I like the QP1R is it looks stunning, the sound quality and its driving ability. Unfortunately, the latter has now been decreased.

The 4kb update would be for the QP1R USB DAC driver on your PC. Not needed if you do not use the QP1R as a USB DAC.

Without breaking out my dB level meter app and testing, I’ll say that I noticed a volume level decrease as well from v1.0.8 to v1.0.9. How much exactly, that remains to be tested.

No, it's for everything on their server. When I downloaded the 1.0.8 firmware a few days ago, I was getting about 4 kps and it would disconnect about every two minutes, meaning I would have to click "Resume".

Just like the dB decrease in the 1.0.9 firmware, why aren't Questyle aware of this and why don't they do something about it?
