I actually did not know that you could purchase the AP100 directly from Hidizs. They offered me a sample for this price when we were exchanging mails about my technical questions. Quite a coincedence

Guys, This player rocks seriously. You cant beat it for the value. It works great for me. The soundstage is huge and the bass really pounds. I would describe it as a very found sounding signature. It works best with a DAP of good quality like the JDS C5 and to me the SRS function is the main reason i chose this over the X5. I believe the x5 is of better build quality as the front face of the Hidizs is plastic i belief which is my biggest gripe whilst the sides and the back are metal . But its almost 100 bucks less than the x5 plus you get a few goodies like the leather case which is of great quality. It closes with a magnetic clasp.

The eq settings didnt impress me and is nothing to shout out about but thank goodness for the SRS magic and the Cirrus Logic circuitry ( usually found in top-notch hi-fi equipment and the same ones in ASTELL & KERN and Colorfly Pocket Hi-Fi C4 Pro ) which to me are the real strengths of the player.

I use it with my V moda m100s and shure SE215 CL and i love the sound im getting from it. I hear no hiss on my shures.

Great first impression!!!  Btw, the front is metal, there is no plastic except for the buttons.  Just that front has a big area taking by display and cutouts for the buttons, so not as much solid metal and it could feel a bit flimsy due to all the cutouts.

Both X5 and AP100 are great DAPs, but lately I have been reaching out more toward AP100 because of that "magic" SRC button

I also sent them an email but no replies yet after 2 days. I already have Hm-601 but I can't help myself wondering if Ap100 is/can be a better sounding than Hm-601. Is there anyone who have heard both daps?

Why not test both at your local audio store to see which one works better with your favorite set of phones?  A lot of the people in this forum don't have access to compare these, and they rely on impressions of others.  If you are from HK, I assume you have access to compare them directly before you buy it?
