[Review] Nuforce HA-200 - affordable class-A monoblocks

i haven't heard the TH600/900 so I can't offer any thoughts there. I've heard the Mad Dogs but not the Alphas, but personally I wasn't a huge fan of the Mad Dogs (super comfy pads though). I did think the LCD2.2 sounded quite good from the HA-200 monos.

I did get a chance to hear LCD 2.2, HD 600, HD 650, HD 700 and the HD 800. I did not like the 600 and 650 as much as the other 3 they were lacking in detail. I liked the HD 700 and HD 800 and the LCD 2.2, however, all three were are more expensive than the AD. I like balanced neutral and accurate sound that is involving emotional musical tuneful and fun. not so bothered by about sound stage. Mainly listen to vocals with drums and female vocals. Kind of hoping the AD workout. we will find out soon as I have ordered the AD. As the HD 700, HD 800 and LCD 2.2 were above the budget.

And that leaves money in the tank for a 2nd HA 200 and a DAC that has XL outputs too

as long as the AD are up to standard otherwise back to the drawing board for a new strategy such is life

the dac is the issue dual 3 pin xlr output ends up at over a 1000 usd  so not sure only one i can think of is PS Audio nuwave DAC but this one does not have volume control. so then we end up at high end to madness Antelope audio platinum, DCS Vivaldi or debussy but this not real. but if keep real Korg DAC 100 and ifi octa both do DSD which is really important to me

The AD are here, running them in its been about 6 hours, impressions are that the AD might need a better front end to get the best out of them, BB King live at Glastonbury sound great however, struggling with pianos harsh at the moment

Looked at Burson conductor, had a home demo and found that it was just a sideways move compared to HA 200 + Loki
and the cans have opened up now and they are rocking. Burson was smoother and relaxed however the HA 200 + Loki are more involving and focused

I'm just trying to think of some DSD dacs that don't break the bank... there's the Yulong D200, iFi has as nano and micro model, the Resonessance Concero, and you've already got the Loki.

Loki is DSD x1 only and USB powered. It sounds well, however, it is not plug and play will need to set up your media player. the easiest to set; is JRiver. the other advantage of Loki is the passive pass through for your PCM DAC. so it works with your existing set up

Or how about a preamp or pro audio mixer that will let you convert to balanced to feed a pair of HA-200 monos?
