Second on Mim's opinion, upgrade better phones first and wait for a bit when more and more impressions of those upcoming DAPs before pulling the trigger...

Considering I own the TF10 I can honestly say there's far better earphones out there of which i also own. mind you, as a entry level IEM I would rank it up there as a good earphone for someone whose new to the hobby to get his feet wet.

UE TF10 are THE best universal IEM's I have used and I have them ALL. It's even better than my UE Custom11. It lacks a bit of bass but the it's crystal clear highs are unsurpassed.

Get Fiio X3. I have many players including iPod Touch 4/J3/Colorfly C4/iBasso DX50/X3/Sony z1070/B&O Beosound 2 &6. Have tried the AK's.
I'm not saying X3 is the best player. Z1070 could be the best sounding but the combo of X3 with TF10 is killer. No touch screen and no EQ - a few buttons and Treble/Bass index. No fuss no complexity. Pure SQ excellence. Cheers.

You know somethin? In hindsight you're absolutely freaking right. The UE TF10 is an awesome sounding giant killer of an IEM. You know whats better then a TF10 though????? Two Tri Fi10's. Lucky for you i have one available for sale with your name all over it. For a poultry 300 dolla you can be the top dog of the audio boards my fellow bopper. PM me immediately before someone else grabs this extraordinary IEM off my hands. There's only so many of these earphones available in the wild so you better act quick before someone steals it from under your nose

So the common opinion that starts to form is that I should get an IEM upgrade and only then think about a new DEP. I accept that :-).
On the IEM angle, first I'll note that I really like the sound signature of the TF10s. I prefer a bright sound with high separation and detail. Any suggestions for an IEM upgrade? If the new IEMs were to have the same sockets as the TF10s, so that my new cable would fit without modification, that would be even better.

Thanks all!!

Good to see our fellow experienced members helping out  zg1984.

For the price of AK120 you could purchase 1Plus2, but it would be leap of faith on your behalf and well worth the rewards. Mimouille is right, the most upgrade will always come from the earphone, but considering you originally came here for a DAP I wasn't going to push that subject on you.

The last thing I wanted was 'comes to buy a DAP' 'walks away with $1200 1Plus2 purchase'. Even though it would be the best choice.

I still stick by DX50 for the TF10, I'll let the others guide you.

, I saw that they cost about the same. The thing is I'I know I'll upgrade my IEMs eventually and therefore I want to buy a DAP that would work well not only with the TF10s but with it's successor as well.

The main thing that bothers me about replacing my IEMs now is that I just got a 250$ cable for the TF10s. I don't really understand if this cable is still usable when upgrading to another IEMs, say, the 1Plus2..

The stock silver cable that comes with the 1Plus2 will crush that cable you have in terms of sound quality anyways. Just sell it off. You could get it re-terminated of course but it won't be worth downgrading your sound to use it. The standard cable that comes with the 1Plus2 retails at over $500+. The upgrade you'd get from a high end IEM vs a high end DAP and a med-fi IEM is much bigger IMO. :).
