Surprised no one has mentioned Robert Gordon. His early albums with Link Wray were very good and "Rock Billy Boogie" with Chris Spedding on guitar is one of my all time favorites. Those who like great male vocals need to hear his version of Conway Twitty's "It's Only Make Believe".
I've been too busy to responds. Thank you all very much for your responses. As soon as things slow down I'll start exploring some of the suggestions and my Rockabilly collection will expand.
I have a cd called The Rockabilly Tribute to the Ramones. It's by a band called Full Blown Cherry. Obviously it's a cover of Ramone's songs in that style. It cracks me up every time I listen to it.
I've got only one recommendation here, and that'd be the Chop Tops. Saw them with Nekromantix once; I quite like them, though there's a definite feeling of punk influence there.
check out The New Duncan Imperials for one of the most fun bands you can ever see live. Great music, and you can tell they enjoy making it. And their discography page has several mp3s you can download to check out.
The only thread for Rockabilly and it was updated last in 2007
. If anyone has more recommendations for Rockabilly/Psychobilly/Horrorbilly please share. I've been adding some good stuff from this genre to my collection lately and having a blast with it.
Imelda May & The Creepshow are a couple favorites.
