District 9: 10/10

I can't imagine how a Sci Fi splat fest crossed with profound social commentary crossed with a love story could be any better. The CGI was the best I've seen in any film ever. Perfectly realized. After "Let the Right One In" ... it's my 2nd fav movie in the past 10 years. Can't prop it up enough. Do yourself a favor and go see it now.

Really.

It's *that* good.

A masterpiece.

I look forward to purchasing the DVD.

District 9... 8/10

Depending on the quality of the (obvious) sequel, and how well it integrates with this movie, my rating would change:

Good - 9/10

Bad - 7/10

It was fantastic, I'll be honest. I wanted to give myself some room to go up, though, without ever giving it a perfect 10/10.

Some movies are just plain better with their sequel counterparts, though. Kill Bill was only a "good" movie for me until I saw Kill Bill 2... then it was epic!

But I will concede: District 9 was pretty fantastic, all around. Best movie I've seen yet this summer... maybe even this year.

Escape to Witch Mountain - 6/10.

More exciting than the original, but trite.

District 9- too early to give a score as i am still processing the visual onslaught i was subjected to in the cinema, but guaranteed it will be 8 or above. Incredible movie, not what i expected at all from the adverts. Thought provoking, deep and perversely funny. The one thing that i can comment on immediately was the casting- not one bad performance in my opinion, all of the characters were superbly portrayed. Very very good indeed.
