RARE SENNHEISER HD 1000 CHARLESTON PROTOTYPE HEADPHONES

Those were a design study back in '95 (Senn's 50th anniv) or so... based on some then-current HD4xx internally, maybe HD435. A bit better sounding than the "original", but mostly about looks.

EDIT: OK, so the seller actually is better informed. 140 ohms nominal and THD <0.3%, hmm. Looks more similar to a HD5x5 driver of the day spec wise.

But, I do like the buckles on the leather strap, like some German S&M set of phones.

Has anyone ever actually heard them? I wanna know how they sound!

I've never been a great fan of the Senn sound, but this is a mighty cool-looking piece of hardware. How do you come up with a price for an item like this?

What it sounds like is pretty immaterial. Nobody with any sense would ever remove it from its packing.

Essentially, they are the HD580's but for the cosmetic differences. There were a couple of guys who used to post on Head-Fi who owned them. Can't remember who off the top of my head, but I remember exchanging PM's with one dude about them. He liked their sound but was keeping them mostly for the novelty of them.
