LOL classic... The guy with the name metalhead666 starts a thread about hating rap...

I'm in the middle. Most of the new stuff is pretty terrible, but there are some real gems out there, many old, some new(ish).

The only rap I really enjoy is stuff in the vein of artists like Immortal Technique. Relevant lyrics that make no bones about telling you what's up.

However, hip-hop/rap have taken a sharp downward swing lately. Even my friends who LOVE this sort of music have been mentioning that fewer and fewer really good songs (to them) are being released each year.

Basically, we went from Nate Dogg (a great supporting rapper) to Lil' Jon ("Yeeeeahhhh..!!!!!"). What the hell. (Please note my comparison is only about contrasting differences. If you like/dislike either of the above two names mentioned, I don't care.)

It's time for rap to take a back seat no matter if it is good or not. It's only been around for about 25 years now. Time for some new music to take the front seat. What I don't like about rap is not the music so much but the mentality that goes along with it.

Alot of people always say this, but he really has a terrible flow and crap production. I find him hard to listen to and really get into and enjoy. If you really want to know 'what's up' then read a book, but i like to enjoy my music.

I won't go as far as and say all rap or hip hop sucks.

But will say the following have no talent, orgininality, skill and just downright embarrassment to all musicians, musical artists.

Puff Daddy (Dumbass Name), Jay Z (Dumbass name again), Timbaland (Dumbass name again and most overrated producer), 50 Cent (Dumbass Name), Snoop Dog (Dumbass name again! With worst nasally high pitched voice, gross!), and plenty others.
- What I don't get most are their lyrics. The content and vocabulary is so poor, its as if they take pride in being dumbasses.

Would have to say among all the music I listened to, the above sicken and piss me off the most. I'd rather listen to Britney Spears, Ashley Simpson can't do it, she needs to be banned from all recording studios and concert venues.

Some Hip Hop I do like are collaborations with BT. Kimosabe and The Revolution off of the Emotional Technology Bonus Disc are fun to listen to, probably because I just like BT

Are you serious with this post.

You know what The Beatles - what a stupid names there bugs, Rolling Stones - what kind of stones make music, the clash - clash this, and so on.

mbd - your not allowed to talk anymore

***** it, time to listen to some of Jay-Z 'Black Album' (great album, mainstream or not and is actually quite an audiophile-standard album production wise) followed by some Metallica then maybe some MJ and Sigur Ros

Honestly, whoever judges music based on stereotypes, no matter what genre, is idiotic and ignorant and misses out so much on the richness of that genre.

Hip-hop is definitely one, if you delve into the history and meaning of it, one of the most interesting socially, of any music genre.

Eminem - Who Knew

I never knew I..
I never knew I..
Mic check one-two
I never knew I..
Who woulda knew?
I never knew I..
Who'da known?
I never knew I..
***** what a story
I never knew I..
Mother*****er comes out
I never knew I..
and sells a couple of million records
I never knew I..
And these mother*****ers hit the ceiling
I never knew I..

[Eminem]
I don't do black music, I don't do white music
I make fight music, for high school kids
I put lives at risk when I drive like this {*tires screech*}
I put wives at risk with a knife like this (AHHH!!)
crap, you probably think I'm in your tape deck now
I'm in the back seat of your truck, with duct tape stretched out
Ducked the **** way down, waitin to straight jump out
put it over your mouth, and grab you by the face, what now?
Oh - you want me to watch my mouth, how?
Take my *****n eyeballs out, and turn em around?
Look - I'll burn your *****n house down, circle around
and hit the hydrant, so you can't put your burning furniture out
(Oh my God! Oh my God!) I'm sorry, there must be a mix-up
You want me to fix up lyrics while the President gets his dick sucked?
{*ewwww*} ***** that, take drugs, rape sluts
Make fun of gay clubs, men who wear make-up
Get aware, wake up, get a sense of humor
Quit tryin to censor music, this is for your kid's amusement
(The kids!) But don't blame me when lil' Eric jumps off of the terrace
You shoulda been watchin him - apparently you ain't parents

Chorus: Eminem

Cause I never knew I, knew I would get this big
I never knew I, knew I'd affect this kid
I never knew I'd, get him to slit his wrist
I never knew I'd, get him to hit this bitch
I never knew I, knew I would get this big
I never knew I, knew I'd affect this kid
I never knew I'd, get him to slit his wrist
I never knew I'd, get him to hit this bitch

[Eminem]
So who's bringin the guns in this country? (Hmm?)
I couldn't sneak a plastic pellet gun through customs over in London
And last week, I seen a Schwarzenegger movie
where he's shootin all sorts of these mother****ers with a uzi
I sees three little kids, up in the front row,
screamin "Go," with their 17-year-old Uncle
I'm like, "Guidance - ain't they got the same moms and dads
who got mad when I asked if they liked violence?"
And told me that my tape taught 'em to swear
What about the make-up you allow your 12-year-old daughter to wear?
(Hmm?) So tell me that your son doesn't know any cuss words
when his bus driver's screamin at him, *****n him up worse
("Go sit the ***** down, you little *****n prick!")
And **** was the first word I ever learned
up in the third grade, flippin the gym teacher the bird (Look!)
So read up, about how I used to get beat up
peed on, be on free lunch, and change school every 3 months
My life's like kinda what my wife's like (what?)
******* up after I beat her *****n ass every night, Ike
So how much easier would life be
if 19 million mother*****ers grew to be just like me?

Chorus

[Eminem]
I never knew I.. knew I'd..
have a new house or a new car
A couple years ago I was more poorer than you are
I don't got that bad of a mouth, do I?
***** crap ass b*tch c*nt, shooby-de-doo-wop (whoops!)
Skibbedy-be-bop, a-Christopher Reeves
Sonny Bono, skis horses and hittin some trees (HEY!)
How many retards'll listen to me
and run up in the school shootin when they're pissed at a teach
-er, her, him, is it you is it them?
"Wasn't me, Slim Shady said to do it again!"
Damn! How much damage can you do with a pen?
Man I'm just as ******* up as you woulda been
if you woulda been, in my shoes, who woulda thought
Slim Shady would be somethin that you woulda bought
that woulda made you get a gun and shoot at a cop
I just said it - I ain't know if you'd do it or not

Chorus

[Eminem]
How the ***** was I supposed to know?

And when a Nobel prize winning poet praises Eminem....

Nobel poet proclaims his respect for Eminem's 'verbal energy' - Media, News - The Independent

Honestly, you're digging yourself a hole with that ignorance of yours. I listen to all genres.
Also, anyone who views Eminem's lyrics with an English academic sort of view will realised the amount of complexity in Eminem's lyrics. My former English teacher, who was female, appreciated Eminem and his clever lyrics and in fact, used it in high school English.
And no, I don't dress like a homie either.
In fact, most people that I know of who appreciate good rap are run-of-the-mill everyday middle-class white people.
If you haven't noticed already, I'm Chinese. And yes, I know of Jin. And yes, his studio albums are a joke but his freestyle = good and no, I'm not a 'Gangsta Asian'.

Yeah seriously. While I don't like any of those rappers listed, to judge them based on names is judging them on the most superficial level possible.

Also, chinesekiwi, when was Alphabetical Slaughter recorded/released? Blackalicious has a rap with the same exact concept. They were both released in 1999 according to Wiki, but I don't know what dates.

BUCK 65 - SQUARE ONE LYRICS
This is the best rap song I've ever heard.
[size=xx-small]"I know a man who was born with his heart on the outside
Every mans worst fear he also had heavy hands
He couldn’t touch his lovers face
He couldn’t hold a baby
He would never desert them
But he was worried he would hurt them maybe
Mad at the world his face turned hot pink
The best he could do was just try to not think
But he was to bothered
So he would only try rarely
He read the last page of every book in the library
He lacked the charisma
Of a true revolutionary crime fighter
Would try to write but kept breaking his typewriter
He preaches manifesto militant radical
Was diligent but his greatest mistakes were gramatical
If he only spent more time rehearsing and preparing
There wouldn’t have to be so much cursing and swearing
Eyes on fire
His volume was blistering
No one had taught him about the power of whispering
He is dynamite
Blows kisses
Eats dirt
His mouth of a volcano
He is a t-shirt
He stands on stilts
But doesn’t stand for funny stuff
Ask me
He just hasn’t been around the sun enough
He paints self-portraits
With a roller
Only eats corn
And then tries to sell his own soul
On a street corner
He always remembers everyone’s numbers
And sometimes cries into his own cumbersome hands"[/size]
