Interceptor;Sorry to hear that re: Music Teck. I've always had good response from them. I, too have this bizarre battery drain issue. I actually had my 1st R5, which I bought just after they were released, replaced by MT, as the battery began swelling and popped the back off. Since then I haven't used it as much but when I do the battery will drain very quickly, even when turned off. I turn the wifi and BT off also as I plug it into the car 3.5 mm socket. Mine has this odd behavior where it will turn on but when I push play on either UAPP or the Hiby app it shuts down immediately and reboots. I have to plug it in to any power source to get it to play but I can unplug the battery charger and it will work until or unless I shut it off again until the battery runs dead. Is anyone else having this shut-down behavior?
Btw, loved your AA comment-I can relate, on both levels.
Your post is 100% on track. Also it was fun to read.
The weird behaviors you describe pretty much are what I am experiencing. Mine drains even when off; and that reboot sequence you describe is something I go through consistently. It often takes 4 reboots before I get a stable system.
It is interesting to note that you have this issue even though we use different apps. Typically I only use Amazon HD whereas you are using UAPP and HiBy player. I have those apps but usually do not turn them on after a reboot.
For car use my workaround is to plug in a battery pack when not playing music. I charge the battery pack from the lighter socket adaptor. I unplug the battery pack when driving as it is a source of noise (alternator noise).
I am not clear if HiBy has a fix for this other than changing out the battery. Seems to me that something more is going on than just the battery. I wish HiBy was monitoring this thread more often and could comment.
