Expect nothing else than a full review and I’ll add comparison to my collection :)
Thanks for the opportunity!

Anyone gone from universal VX to custom? Thoughts?

Me. I sold the universal to get the IER-Z1R, but missed the sound isolation of VX so I got the custom. From what I can remember, the sound, comfort level and isolation of the custom is no better than the universal. And you get tip rolling with the universal, although the stock tips (translucent) were the best sounding to me.

I tend to agree, I think the stock translucent tips are superb and probably edge out dot++. I might try a couple more cables with it but superbax is just so transparent I don't think I'll find any improvement!

qdc universals I think in general have a very good fit, compared to other universal brands, at least to my ears. It seals and isolate noise well

I have both the IER-Z1R and VX and I prefer the VX between the two in everything except for bass. IER-Z1R bass has a really nice texture that the VX can't compete in IMO.

I tried the Z1R w ZX500 and gotta agree bass is quite something

curious how VX may pair w ZX500

so by overall I presume u also find VX more comfortable?

Vastly. The VX is arguably the most comfortable IEM I've ever tried...it fits like a custom. (BTW mine's up for sale if you're interested

I don't have trouble fitting the IER-Z1R and it doesn't give me any discomfort or pain. I can keep them in all day. That being said, the Anole VX is much more comfortable due to it's shape and weight

First impressions are very good, impressive IEMs for sure... I need to dig into the switches next seems all are on the off setting right now.

It’s going to be a fun review :D

After a little switch testing... quickly came to a couple of switch combinations I’ll use :
  • All switches off : this is logically the more laid back option, but with great balance and refinement.
  • Mids and Highs switch ON : this is the more exciting option, with more lively mids and treble what a treat. I like both switches ON, I tried treble only but not sure I like it. Mids only is fine and I’ll try that again see if it grows on me.
Overall I wouldn’t use the bass switch other than for bass light recordings that would need significant boost. Otherwise it’s off to basshead territory!!! For me, the off bass switch feels like it’s already quite satisfying in terms of bass impact, and this boost feels like the biggest among all three switches. I would have preferred less boost in fact.

Overall very impressed by the Anole VX it’s my kind of highly detailed IEM (I mean I am usually not into them), it’s engaging and I’ll use the word « musical » (yeah, I know... :p).
