Those of you who own DLIII with cullen stage 3 or stage 4 mods, have you compared it to Bel Canto DAC3? This would be very interesting comparison.

I have not. I did a quick search, and did not find the two reviewed together, though they were mentioned together several times..

has the Digital Link III been discontinued? The PS Audio site says it's no longer available in the store and retailers such as crutchfield say that its discontinued (which I suppose is the obvious cue...). Anyone hear of a new model coming out soon to replace the DL3?

I emailed him last week and he said it should come in this week, don't want to be a pain in the neck so I am just waiting. I am sure when it comes in he will get to it quickly, knowing it has been there for a while.
Initially though I was worried about the DLlll being a bit dated due to its 2006 release, and it concerns me a bit that it is now even been discontinued. But i have to admit, i like the sound i heard and it is probably a good base for mods either way. If it makes as much of a difference as the oppo did I will be thrilled-esp in terms of the usb. I also though now have an optical from my new Mac.

I am also still waiting for Lee to do the one meter digital, he said he was behind and it would take a week but that was a while back, I did tell him not to sweat it though.

I sure when it is all said and done I will be happy with it all, it really is about my finale except the L3000s which i had offered to me this week but I am not ready with all the other expenditures on this hobby lately, poor wallet.

same I had an offer for some L3Ks also but right now I just can't justify 3500 on cans unheard though they are my wetdream and will be recieved eventualy

$3500 for the L3000 is just laughable to my ears. I wouldn't pay $100 for them.

I'm sure some feel the same about the HD800 though.

Dave, don't worry even if it is discontinued. There are excellent DACs from 5 years ago that people still love. There will always be new and better but that doesn't mean that an older DAC doesn't sound good anymore. If it sounded good to people in 2006, it will obviously still sound good to people now. The DL3 is an excellent DAC and I'm glad to see more people lately have been purchasing them. It is the best value for a DAC in its price range that I have ever heard, and likewise in the price range with the mods. -- Now, that may all change once the Ref1 arrives on Monday (highly doubtful that it will arrive tomorrow, it hasn't even left Hong Kong yet). The Ref1 is supposed to be on par with very high-end DACs so I am excited about it.

One of these DACs will go up for sale... which one... ???

the PS Audio DL3 is still available on Cullen Circuits website, but I just can't seem to bring myself to buy it. I keep deliberating back and froth between that and the Ref 1 (although I'm sure both are overkill for my current setup, but at least this way I'll be able to slowly upgrade). I guess I'll have to sit tight and wait for your reviews/comparison Ipodpj...
