I've just put a 6n6p tube into my Project Ember. Does anyone have experience with the tube. Is it a good one?
Edit: it seems its not a 6n6p tube since it says ECC82 on the tube its rather a 12AU7
Another tube i have it says 6H6N on the tube in russian maybe thats a 6n6p?

Yes it is. 6H6N is another designation for 6N6P.

Hey there,
just a question. How do i recognize that my tube is done? I mean at the end of their life cycle?
Are there such indications? If yes which one?
I'am asking because my 6n6p tube is so warm sounding and smooth/relaxed i'm afraid its over it's life cycle.
or maybe thats their sound characteristic idk.
thanks
Edit: anyways i've ordered a TAD Tubes 12AU7A/ECC82. Does anyone have experience with that tube, is it good?

So i checked the Project Ember against the Schiit Magni 3 and i have to say that with the Ember the sound is more holographic and 3d and smooth but incredibly colored.
I'm not sure i want my sound to be so colored.
The Magni 3 has same bass quantity but is more dry and neutral to the sound. I've ordered a 12AU7A tube and will listen if theres less coloration with this tube.
I'm using these amps with a Chord Mojo 2 and Schiit Modi Multibit and AKG K701.
Anyone have the same experience with tube amps?

I'll be honest, out of all this time that I've owned tube amp I've never wear out a tube yet.

So I actually don't know either LOL.

Hmmmmm I mean..... coloration is kind of why people buy tube amp lol. That's kind of the point.

But there are less colored tube out there yes. I just don't know which one.

Get THX AAA amp.

Or buy LISST (6922 type) for the Ember.

I'm using these amps with a Chord Mojo 2 and Schiit Modi Multibit and AKG K701.

Lol to be honest, Mojo 2 is colored too, same with Modi Multibit.

They are all not linear sounding gear. But I guess less colored than tube.

I don't know, i think i wanted a pure DAC sound without smoothing it over with a Tube amp.
I've ordered a 3.5 to 6.35 adapter for the headphone jack then i'm gonna check out how the build in amp is of the Chord Mojo 2.
Thank you Hyde00 i will check out the LISST (6922 type) for the ember.

Oh another thing to check just in case.

Ember has output impedance adjustment, make sure it's on L (0.1 ohm) and not on M (35 ohm) or H (120 ohm).

If you set to L you'll notice you gain more power too, default it should be on this, but maybe good to double check. (Need to check both left and right side)

Setting to M or H will lower power also color the sound too.

Though Mojo 2 built in amp should be decently powerful too.

Good luck and report back later lol!
