I'm old school who with the availability of new material via Internet cannot keep up with all the the new nuggets to discover. Here's a newer discovery I'm really digging in the vein of John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra called Special Providence from Hungary. This is from their Soul Alert album. enjoy!

Not wanting to break up all the lovely nostalgia, but I have to share this one. Just love:

Amadeus Awad – Death Is Just A Feeling

Sounds holographic in parts on my alpha primes. Just a wonderful prog album.

Never heard of them and just checked out their Behind the Scenes videos. Arjen lucassen appeared briefly in the video, is this one of his projects as it also features Anneke Van Gierbsergen?
Listened to a couple of tracks - like it very much. I'll be checking out the album.

Thanks

I don't think it is directly one of his projects, but he definitely shares similarities. I could be wrong though.

Out of their discography Soul Alert is my favorite. When I first discovered them the title track came on in the middle of the night and woke me up, I had to get up and write it down so I could look them up it was so good.

Maybe two threads could be created; 'Classic Progressive Rock' and 'modern Progressive Rock'?!? :)

No way, I like the discussions\posts of mix of older and newer prog.

I agree with bavinck - there is lots of creative new prog out there, it just requires a bit more digging around to find it....which is why I like threads like this.

Scorpions are not known to be prog, but their debut album Lonesome Crow, the only one that Rudolf Schenkers brother Michael plays lead before going to UFO, has some very proggy elements including the 13 minute title track.

Yep that Scorps is great stuff, smoked a lot of car speakers listening to it. How about some reference quality PT to show off your home theater system. This will get your head spinning and chest thumping.
