@rids57
I didn’t know anything about this group (Galahad)- had never followed them. After listening to this though I chased down other releases to listen to and was surprised to find so many over the years. Where I live they would get little to no exposure so I’m glad they were suggested to me!

You said you were streaming from Amazon Music- have you found their service to carry what you’re looking for? What about streaming quality and sample rate- is it all at least CD quality? I used Amazon some time ago but it was always MP3, I’ve stayed With Qobuz but sometimes it takes them a while to catalog the newer stuff you’d find immediately on Bandcamp.

Yep, everything is at least CD quality, while a fair amount is 24/96 and some 24/192 also. They have a catalogue rivalling Spotify and I manage to find most of the bands I'm looking for. On the down side, their App is not as good as Spotify, although I find their desktop app to be fine. The only other negative is that they don't seem to know how exclusive mode is supposed to work - while it does take exclusive control of the sound system, so no interruptions from Windows, it does not take control of the DAC, so everything gets resampled to whatever setting you have in the Windows control panel. I chose 384kHz so everything gets up-sampled to that, although to be honest, Microsoft have worked out most of the kinks in the Windows mixer for Windows 10/11 and the differences between bit perfect and re-sampled are minimal and personally I find them inaudible.
As for adding new material, the Randy McStine album still isn't up there but the Giant Sky album is, though any delay could well be due to record companies failing to provide a digital copy rather than any fault of Amazon.

Have you guys checked out the debut album from Nospūn? I just listened to it for the first time today, and I'm absolutely blown away by the talent these guys have! If you're into bands like Dream Theater and Haken, it's a must-listen. I've got a feeling this one's making its way to my top 10 of the year after just one listen!

@YtseJamer
Since you mentioned Dream Theater and Haken I wanted to ask if you’ve heard this from Temic- it’s called “Terror Management Theory. I have this on my playlist for later this evening so it will be new to me!

Another standout for me this year is Night Verses' second album. If you're into Animals as Leaders and Tool, I'd highly recommend giving this album a listen.

This is probably my favorite album of the year. Just standout composition, and it's shockingly well produced. I use a number of tracks from this album as reference tracks to test equipment.

Nothing wrong with that- it’s good to break things up now and then!

I just checked out Harp's debut album, and it's pretty good. Just a heads up, it's more of a laid-back, almost like a medieval folk prog-rock mix.

Listening to it now, though not for long as it's almost time to get up and I haven't been to bed yet :darthsmile:
I'm liking what I'm hearing and the mix of genres works well, it's been added to my favourites list
