Cool, glad you could pull it up as it’s good stuff.
Yes, I have this album already but there’s nothing for........Marco Sfogli “band
I’m gonna keep looking. I haven’t checked Tidal yet and hoping the “band” is on there.

As for your other post referring to me I
believe ..... asking me to come up with some songs for an upbeat prog rock, nothing dumb playlist? Bro, I’m old and suffer from CRS. Lol. Nevertheless, I work a million hours a week and just got off vacation so I had some time to post. I’m locked out in both my Spotify and Tidal accounts as there’s no more room so I gotta delete some songs. I guess what I’m trying to say is that’s all I do is search for new music/musicians/bands, etc.

So over the next few days I’ll go through all my music and post a Schiit load of songs to this thread. I have particular tastes for sure so hopefully I can turn on some of you guys/ladies something fresh......hopefully!

I like this thread A LOT!!! :metal::beerchug:

I was referring to everyone :)
Ideas for that playlist with: luminous keyboards - radiant guitars - uplifting rock - with an 80's vibe - that is not dumb - and not mainstream - except for guilty pleasures like Journey and Def Leppard, that I might take out later if I feel like - kinda music - if that makes sense - playlist. Please...
See already added songs for reference.

Just finished listening to this album Icefish - Human Hardware, and I'm very impressed... Thanks @koover !
They seem to have found the perfect recipe, with just the right ingredients for something very pleasant to listen too. There is melodicity and vocal warmth - perfectly married with technical prowess in just the right amount. Very honest. Never gets boring. They could go overboard and sound like some show-off technical virtuosos, because they can! But they didn't. Everything is in the right amount, and the end result is just fantastic. I don't know why they sometimes remind me of Europe (the band) in a good way. Europe without the cheesy factor :) They are two completely different bands, but somehow strike the same chord in me. Reminded me also of last year's "Psychotic Symphony" album by Sons of Apollo - same melodious vocals but much heavier sound overall.

Nice synopsis man!

Some time ago, here in this thread, I invited you to contribute to a playlist of prog songs with a luminous, optimistic vibe. But not dumb. They are very hard to find... Something like this:

I think I'll add some Icefish and Haken to it. Maybe you have some other ideas of songs that can fit in?

Later Edit: Meanwhile I changed the title from "Carefree Prog" to "Carefree Rock" in order to make it broader. But I'll try to be restrictive about the vibe and the image that the song brings, when adding new songs. They have to fit in with the existing ones :) And I want to stay away from the mainstream hits as much as I can. This list is now collaborative. If you have a Spotify account you can follow me and add new songs to it.

Can you post a link to it? There are a few "Carefree Rock" playlists, but I don't think either of them are yours. Thanks.

Clicking on the Spotify logo to the right of the embedded playlist opens Spotify and the playlist.
If I post the URL, it is auto transformed by head-fi into the embedded playlist.
Here is the playlist without http://
open.spotify.com/user/223m2v33ziwglrolzahssqkra/playlist/22PrAJTjSuXwiF53a9CUoq?si=f_jh7leISC2M2jDCOb5THQ
Or search for "head-fi carefree rock"

OK, you got me interested, he really is amazing!!
Many years ago, I sometimes fantasized and pictured myself being a guitar or drums player in a great band like Rush, as I'm sure many of us did at some point :) But this... this is like all my youth dreams coming true and being recorded to video :) To see a regular guy actually doing it!
Well... I guess he's not that "regular" if he is able to do all this. He's special! But I'll imagine he's regular, just to fit in with the dream :)
Of course this dream of being a rock star is so common, that they had to monetize it, and made "Guitar Hero" games :) But back then we had no Guitar Hero, our dreams were better than Guitar Hero!
Great post, FullBright1!

Nice commentary, KopaneDeJooj,

I have a theory that people's dreams never actually die....they just, over much time, (if not completed) simply turn into warm memories .
Time and Life have a way of taking you away from your dreams, but they can never take the dream from inside you.

So, im going to cheat on this Thread just a little bit, and hopefully all who listen to what im about to post will approve.
What im going to post now, are 2 of my favorite Instrumental Rock guitar albums, created by 2 of my favorite guitar players.
I have a few, and these are 2.
Their music is not really specific to the genre of "Prog", but i think we can all agree that a lot of what most of us enjoy about Prog Rock is the guitar playing.
At least that's how i feel.
So, these are 2 of my favorite guitarist, who make mostly instrumental guitar music, and some of it might be considered... "prog"......:)
And yes, these are for sale...

Great stuff from what I heard and will give a good listen when I get the time.
As for “prog”....
Prog rock is so open for interpretation as it’s
just what it is. It’s progressive and different then mainstream rock. To me at least, if it’s something that’s not normally on the radio, good musicianship, stretching the boundaries of he genre, its progressive. So I don’t think you’re off base with both of the included links because to me at least, it fits the bill.

If you enjoy really good lead guitar, rock style, and interesting production, then you'll probably enjoy both of my Album posts.
Guthrie Govan, Album #2, often plays and records with Steven Wilson, who is a bit of a Prog Rock stylist.
Both of these guitarists ive listed fit into that same realm with Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Randy Rhodes, and to a lesser extent Rush-Alex Lifeson and King Crimson - Robert Fripp.

One of my favorite past eras of music to listen to on occasion, (FM, rock) , was the '80s hair bands.
So many bands starting with Van Halen in '78, became sort of a reason to have a really good lead guitar player, as all the songs these bands wrote were basically a gateway to the lead guitar solo part.
George Lynch, Reb Beach, Malmsteen, Ozzy's Guitarists.., Vito Bratta....
During that era of music, leading up to about '88, there were some awesome lead guitar players all over FM rock radio.
Then, Rap music came into the mainstream, as the record industry started training people to accept it, for the last 22 yrs., obo.
For me, "the day that music died" was the day that so many Record companies and MTV discovered Rap Music and started heavy rotating it, all over Radio and Cable TV.
And while "Video Killed the Radio Star", and "All we need is Radio GaGa".....= Rap music forever ruined Pop music...along with illegal downloading... and the evolution of Home Recording.......is what i believe.

The ONLY radio I listen to now is sports talk radio. Yes, that’s the truth. I cannot listen to what’s being played today at all. Half and probably more isn’t even music but just talking and rhyming (I know what it’s called) and getting vulgar. It truly isn’t music and goes to show that anyone, that if you learn how to post on YouTube, you can become a star no matter how little talent you have.
