If/when I purchase this, my intent would be to use it for its DAC only. This is where its capabilities shine. The headphone amp is almost like an afterthought. Something nice to have, but not the main feature.

I read about that model. Even though the DAC would be the primary reason to acquire the S2, having the headphone amp included would be convenient for certain situations. The cost difference is not huge.

not really big difference. I'm wondering if it has enough juice to feed active speakers....

If I were a product manager at Pro-Ject, I'd want to only test the waters with one MQA license before going through the time and expense of getting another DAC approved.

I would hope the information on the manufacturer's own website is correct.

No MQA. Both the web page and the datasheet were last updated in June.

This would not be the worst fake news that has ever been spread, so-to-speak.

I note it's still derzeit nicht verfügbar there, and can only hope at least that one listing will be corrected before ordering becomes possible.

Some of the other retailers will have to issue refunds.

I'm wondering how they did get this information. retailers do not fabricate tech specs themselves. they normally just copy-paste providers' pages.

I would definitely be very interested to try either of the two as hi res capable DACs..
As far as MQA is concerned I could not care less!
I would be very happy to pay less to avoid it.
With real hi res masterfiles and capability to play DXD and highrates DSD, who needs yet another mp3 style compression format?
I just don't understand the hype around a lossy compression format.
I would NEVER download the MQA version of any album.
I see it as a way to squeeze money out of unsuspecting listeners and companies through licence fees.
In another forum it has been described as "VAPORWARE."
A hi res masterfile from reputable sources is THE masterfile. The MQA version is a compressed version!
