Well, do keep us updated as you get more information. I am certainly interested, as I think others are as well.
In that case you might choose this oneIf/when I purchase this, my intent would be to use it for its DAC only. This is where its capabilities shine. The headphone amp is almost like an afterthought. Something nice to have, but not the main feature.
not really big difference. I'm wondering if it has enough juice to feed active speakers....I read about that model. Even though the DAC would be the primary reason to acquire the S2, having the headphone amp included would be convenient for certain situations. The cost difference is not huge.
obviously yes.Can Pre Box S2 Digital be considered a Pro-ject DAC Box S2 plus headamp? Or in other words, are DAC section in the two the same?

obviously yes.
S2+ does.It does not do MQA.
S2+ does.
then there is controversial information aroundThe above-referenced "Pro-Ject DAC Box S2 +" does not: http://www.box-designs.com/main.php?prod=dacboxs2plus&cat=s2-line&lang=en
If I were a product manager at Pro-Ject, I'd want to only test the waters with one MQA license before going through the time and expense of getting another DAC approved.

not the only one.
I guess you are right. still many of the retailers are selling MQA, among others AmazonI would hope the information on the manufacturer's own website is correct.
Before writing anything here, I also looked at the datasheet: http://www.box-designs.com/inhalt/en/pdf/dacboxs2plus.pdf
No MQA. Both the web page and the datasheet were last updated in June.

I'm wondering how they did get this information. retailers do not fabricate tech specs themselves. they normally just copy-paste providers' pages. This would not be the worst fake news that has ever been spread, so-to-speak.![]()
I note it's still derzeit nicht verfügbar there, and can only hope at least that one listing will be corrected before ordering becomes possible.
Some of the other retailers will have to issue refunds.
I would definitely be very interested to try either of the two as hi res capable DACs..I'm wondering how they did get this information. retailers do not fabricate tech specs themselves. they normally just copy-paste providers' pages.
