Hey guys

So I'm looking for a pair of headphones that I will use for gaming. Price is not an issue and the only real requirement is that they isolate well.

I have used quite a few headphones including almost all of the usual suspects. Personally, I like the Denon D5000 for gaming and was not impressed with the DT770Pro/80 as they lack some detail. I haven't tried the A900 though I will consider it if there really is nothing better for gaming.

Thanks

i love the ath-a900 for gaming. i also love the denon d2000. they are kind of similar, with the a900 having less bass but reaching a lower note. the denon is slightly brighter too and not very forgiving to some gunshot and explosion sounds.
neither isolate all that much for closed cans (thay dont leak noise, but dont have that suctioned to your head feeling either)
another fave of mine is the jvc hadx1. great tight bass, fast, nice mids and highs but not bright highs.

Stax SR-Lambda that I had was remarkable but it's an open design.

The W5000 is no slouch either for gaming purposes due to its soundstage and imaging capability as I much preferred it over the D2000.

Why not use your HFI-780's for gaming..... They are a fair upgrade over the A900's, as i have previously owned them.

I don't want to sound like a Bose enthusiast, but I would say that the On-Ear model is great for gaming. The mediocrity and heavy low-end make these pleasurable for long gaming sessions. Also, the more harsh sounds like grenades won't bother you with these.

Hmm I have used many cans for gaming, dt770, dt880, a700, a900 and w5000. And I would say there is no best... It depend on the games you play, for games like BF etc I would just go for the 770... yes it is not as detailed, but the game audio is not either... If you like "space" games like x3, then go with a900 or w5000, as in e.g x3 the audio part is very!!! good and detalied, and you dont need much bass.

I liked my A500s for gaming. Nice big soundstage, explosions sounded pretty nice...

Isn't the consensus that Razer doesn't make good headphones?

Haha, my 1337th post on a gaming thread!
