So anyone going to drop a ton of money on Zeiss new lens releases? I am in need of a 70-200 f2.8 with stabilization I can't drop the money on the Canon version 2 so it's between the Tamron or Sigma I have read so many reviews saying they both are great. A good amount have stated the Tamron is sharper but is soft at 200mm and has halo problems at 200mm. I was leaning towards the Sigma because of it's build quality. I know someone that had the Tamron and dropped it, and it actually broke into 2 pieces. The drop wasn't even that hard, anyone have any input? I guess it all depends on the copy you get since know 2 lenses are the same.
IMO if you drop any lens of that length and weight with that many moving parts, I wouldn't expect anything but repair costs. I wouldn't base a buying decision on that. But broke in half is kinda nuts, on the other hand.

Maybe a 135L would be a good compromise. I borrowed a friend's to help second shoot a wedding, and the results were stunning. I think it's a great option if you need reach+fast aperture.
Btw, one of my favorite shots from my D750 so far. It's a downsized JPG, so no pixel peeping

I have the nikon 80-200 2.8 for the past 3 years, couldn't be happier. I use it only 15% of the time, due to the weight. So, I didn't have a need for the newer 70-200 2.8.
I hear canon's 80-200 2.8 is also equally good. If you can justify the usage get the canon 70-200 2.8II. I'm not against tamron or sigma (love the tamron 90mm macro), but like to stick with first party for pro lenses.
