I really wish I loved to play an instrument. I play the trumpet at the moment, but I do not enjoy it as none of the music I listen to utilizes a trumpet

Ah, yea I feel the same. I am playing saxophone, but it's kinda boring to play it alone. Guitar is more fun since there is much more to play.

Also if you wish to start play guitar, Rocksmith 2014 is a great game to learn the basics! :)

Yup, I want to learn the piano to play the synthesizer. But I really do not have any time to dedicate to it..

  i took piano lessons for 2 years, i still suck.  I find guitar much easier and more instant gratification.  inside 10 min i was doing the intro to Layla !

Damn.. May just try drums

Bass trombone reporting in. Depending on where you are (I don't I now what the band programs like where you are), you'll enjoy band a lot more the longer you go.

If you want, try joining jazz band (if your school has it), and listen to more 60-80's jazz records. Go to your local record store, pick out 5 random jazz records and listen to em. That's how I explore jazz.
