Wow! Another great deck with a Lyra cart to boot. So many beautiful turntables in this thread!

Thanks! Turntables, especially MC cartridges (and, now, headphones 😉), have always been far and away my favorite pieces of audio gear.

Beautiful deck!

Beautiful deck!

Yes I am an analog man , turntables and RtR. I don't listen to much on headphones and in my rigs have "little" satisfaction from digital, that I find not very organic and natural (I tried everything - even top - until I gave up, and I resigned: it always comes "after" to analog - IMO). But it's very convenient and i can access endless music for what it's worth. But if you want to close your eyes and touch the music, talk to the interpreter, hold your breath... put on a nice record or tape (2trk-38cms)..always IMO of course...

I have got to get into vinyl. It's my next step into audio addiction. I think I am going to go the Rega P10 or 8 route.

I 3D printed and assembled this from a kickstarter design. Just a basic autiotechnica cartridge that I think I want to upgrade. Any advice?
Well, I'm a grado man myself. As long as your tonearm isn't too heavy a grado could work. If your AT cart is anything like the one that came with my AT-LP7 'table, a grado would (in my opinion) be a sizeable sonic upgrade for not a lot of $$.

Neat, I just love this hobby and where it continues to go! I'm always in awe of custom tables :beerchug: Here's a few I really like:wink:

My #2 turntable (home-office rig) is now on a newly arrived Townshend Seismic isolation platform. Highly recommend the Townshend! It's the most effective isolation product I've used, and this room is an absolute nightmare torture test for footfalls and feedback issues.

Springs are about the only effective passive method to deal with low frequency energy (at or near the turntable), and this Townshend has the perfect balance of springiness vs. stiffness for its rated load. They're also very well damped, unlike my SOTA's spring suspension, so they don't go hog wild when disturbed. I also braced the rack against the wall, which nicely limits the maximum displacement from footfalls. This room has been quite a challenge for energy management!
