Follow up to Mahler, Hans Rott might be one of the greatest unknown composers from the Romantic Era. Ridiculed by Brahms as having no talent he lost any self confidence, which is displayed by his lack of output. He was admired by Bruckner and Mahler, the latter having a good friendship. You'll probably hear a strong resemblance in the third movement to the second movement of Mahler's first symphony.

Reminds me a bit of Grainger.
