As an ex piano accordion band player, I reckon that it has never been or ever will be a cool (or a wicked) instrument to play, no matter who tries to hype it up!

Head1, coincidentally I went to a John Williams themed concert recently, it was not exclusively his work but also pieces and composers who he was influenced by, as well as those he may have inspired.
Korngold - kings Row suite, which starts off with the kings Row fanfare. (I can't find much on YT or Vimeo)
However, no prizes for guessing which piece it inspired Williams to write!
