We are celebrating 12 years in business by introducing two new connector options for custom IEM cables: FLUSH 2-PIN and MICRO connectors for IEMs.

FLUSH 2-PIN
is an in-house designed permanent terminated connector compatible with any IEM or CIEM that feature non-recessed, fully flat/flush 2-pin sockets. Standout features include signature screw design, premium gold plated tellurium copper pins to maximize conductivity, PEEK insulation that isolates interference, and a 20% reduction in length over our connector lineup for improved size and comfort. Compatible with various IEMs brands, including 64 Audio, Fir Audio, and others. Available now at no additional cost for all custom cables.

MICRO is a new in-house designed adapter that provides the ability to easily swap connectors for another, offering users the flexibility of using their favorite cable(s) with multiple IEMs that have different connections.

Rather than develop a proprietary adapters-only connection system, we use the industry standard 0.78mm as the base for our MICRO connectors. Developed together with FLUSH 2-PIN, the pairing is the most convenient and reliable solution for versatility that is based on a popular and open-source connection while having the option to use MICRO whenever necessary. Perfect for cable rolling and testings with IEMs.

There is no need for tools nor multi-steps to insert/remove connectors. MICRO’s push-pull design makes swapping fast and easy at any given time. Simply insert one of the MICRO connectors into the FLUSH 2-pin (or any cable with 2-pin) and you’re done.

No compromises were made for our MICRO connectors. Both housing and connectors are made out of high grade gold plated tellurium copper, the most conductive copper based material known for audio applications that far exceeds conductivity rating found in other gold plated copper materials such as brass. We’ve added PEEK insulation into the mix for superior dielectric strength and heat resistance over connectors that utilize standard teflon as insulation. The laser engraved PS logo is facing front and center to make sure it is connected properly.

Thanks to @Sebastien Chiu I was able to take part in the latest cable tour through Europe and therefore had the chance to listen to both of the Plussound newcomers, the Copper XL and SPC XL cables.

I did not have any experience with Plussound products yet and was listening to both cables with my Hiby R6PII driving both an AüR Aehta and an iBasso 3T154.

Did I enjoy the cables? Oh yes, I did and there was a clear favourite for me in the end:

I was not able to detect big differences in the perception of both cables switching between both IEM used for my listening sessions - one being a tribrid the other a single DD. The characteristics of both cables imo remained consistent between both, different types of IEM.

Soundwise - and a bit out of the blue after having read some reviews - my star of the show was the SPC XL.

Where the Copper XL sounded like a good copper cable should, with nice definition in the bass and good separation and imaging, tending to the warm side and being quite intimate, the SPC just added a special sauce - for my taste.

Unexpectedly I liked the bass presentation - or maybe, to express it more precise, how that presentation contributed to the whole sound signature - of the SPC way better, as it - at least with both IEM I have used - had a better overall balance and more texture compared to the Copper XL. Instrument separation, imaging and soundstage too were more refined and as natural as more exciting to my ears with the SPC, delivering an extra dosage of air and letting the music breathe more. The SPC's timbre was simply more fun and vibrant imo.

In a comparison with my Cadmus FE the SPC was mainly on par in most aspects. Differences seemed slightly but the decisive difference, which made me prefer the SPC at last was again it's bass, reaching a tad deeper and offering a smudge more slam. But oc ymmv... 😃

What really astounded me and something I really liked about both Plussound products was their build quality and haptic: absolute premium surpassing all cables in my gear park even the higher quality brands I own. That includes sublime hardware with beautiful, very stylish and solid plugs and pins I much appreciated.

Both cables are also very comfortable being sleek and subtle. Compared to my Code 24/24c - though being comparably thick in diameter - both Plussound cables felt quite smoother. Simply a sheer pleasure to use and wear around the ears as long as you don't crave for very light and thin cables. In that case both XL won't be for you.

So all in all I fear I won't be able to resist for very long and finally will get a SPC XL somewhen...
