I think gsferrari said it best by stating the PS-1's as lush compared to the HP-1000's. There is a liquid smoothness and a rich warmth (not as warm as the RS-1's but not as bright either so the better balance presents itself as more lush than RS-1's in my opinion) to these phones that is really exceptional. The particular tubes I use in my Melos for the HP1's is a combo that is just too much in the bass for the PS-1's. Meanwhile I sold some tubes to NotoriousBIG_PJ which were a perfect match for the PS-1's, a bit leaner in the bass and a colder tube that pairs so well (Amperex 7316 PQ's). Now, if I ever get around to buying some PS-1's, then I'm gonna be all over this tube again.

That said, the HP-1's are still king in my book.
