I don't find the way to access my synology folders on it  For now i use ds audio but i'm not sure how or if this app handle the ESS ...

So the question is ...    ESS is really working ONLY with the stock player ?   I will try on my side to ask the question to my country distributor maybe i will get a response ...

Are you using DS Audio to stream the files or download for offline playback?  I also have a Synology NAS so have some experience of DS Audio (used previously on an Android phone) ... never really been a fan though ... also never been convinced that DS Audio doesn't do some 'on the fly' transcoding to down convert the files so have largely given up on it.

If you are using it to download for offline, surely would be simpler to just copy the files from the NAS to the player and then have a pick of your players and compare sound quality for yourself?

For the record, I have stopped using the stock player and now use GoneMad thanks to its superior interface, ability to scrobble to last.fm and also update album art on the player ... I also struggled for a while with the question of whether its using the ESS and therefore sub-optimizing audio quality but then just started enjoying the music and realized that's what the player is for in the first place ... and it sounds outstanding!

I don't want to download file on it but i see that DS Audio is doing it ....   He will stop soon when the Pioneer will be full

I wanted to use the nativ player because he was developped for this DAP

As you can see on this diagram, i'm not sure how a third app will handle the audio output ...

We pay some $$ to have this ESS and i want to be sure to use it ...

HeLLo,

I'm a brand new owner of this superb XDP-100R. I have it for a couple of days and read pretty much all posts here ... I don't see a lot of forum speaking in detail about this DAP ... I'm really happy with it. I have all my files on a Synology and no problem to play them. My only concern is the stock audio app, I don't find the way to access my synology folders on it  For now i use ds audio but i'm not sure how or if this app handle the ESS ...   I've got a ds audio update that give me access to a new dsp mode but no idea if it's related to the player or only the app.  Any chance to see coming a NAS support to the native music app ?  I use this player with nice B&W P7 and nuforce be6i so i really want to get out the best possible sound ...

So the question is ...    ESS is really working ONLY with the stock player ?   I will try on my side to ask the question to my country distributor maybe i will get a response ...

There is only one dac in it. The ESS. Nobody have found trace of another dac.

I also have all my media files on a Synology NAS and am using Cloudstation to sync them to the Pioneer. I use GoneMad as my music player, because of usability issues and bugs with the stock Pioneer app. I'm using Cloudstation to sync also because of usability issues with the Pioneer sync app. It's a shame that the software supplied is just not good enough and there has been no update for a few months.

Cloudstation is not perfect but once set up it works reasonably well, although a little slow to recognise updates and is not really "real time" sync as they would like you to believe. Just make sure that you disable versioning otherwise it wastes disk space on your NAS by storing a copy of the original files, and make sure the user account you use to sync has read-only access to the music files, so this will create a one-way sync to the Pioneer and won't delete your NAS files if you accidentally delete them on the Pioneer.  Once your files are synched, you can use the native music player if you wish.

I have no idea whether third-party music players use the specialist DAC, opinion is divided on this.  But the music sounds great to me regardless and I'm relatively happy with this solution, as opposed to the heartache of trying to get the Pioneer apps to work properly.

Please prove. It is not what the spec. said.

there is no way to prove , but like all the devices with snapdragon chipset , audio decode with chip inside the device not dedicate dac chip , prove is if there is no any dac with snapdrago so how those phone decode audio files ? base on your word and spec if any phone company not mention dedicate dac and amp chip so phone should not be able to play any audio file
for ex i have lg v10 with sabre 9018 dac but dac and amp not work on any software i want play music but on the google play there is app , DAC FIX after install dac enable  for all porpose on the phone no matter what

Well, dac is a hardware device, even iPhone use a separate chip for dac.

Secondly, there are many Snapdragon has different dac chip.

Thirdly, I think this device is an Android pad more that Android as you cannot find GSM in it.

For dp-x1, someone mentioned a method to prove all apps can access both ESS dac. Turned on the balanced 2.5mm output, use any app you would like. It give you balanced headphones sound. Without using two ESS dac chip, you cannot hear the app function in balanced mode.

If any app can access both ESS dac chips in the above test, why do you think the app cannot access single ESS dac in Single Ended 3.5mm output?

i'm not thinking about that , honestly i don't care xpd use ess or snap dac on third party app , because i only use stock pioneer music app , maybe xdp use ess dac with other music app and maybe not

Like i said i would love to use the stock app but this one doesn't play my nas file ...

Another question, this time more simple, did you know a sleep timer app that work with our Pioneer ? I try some but they doesn't shut down the Pioneer but just stop the music ...
