I'm really considering the M4 now that my Qudelix 5K battery is not lasting as long as it used to.

I’d say it’s a no brainer. Only knock is its size relative to other devices but all things considered it’s still tiny. Performs beautifully via bluettooth and wired as a dongle (need to have a usb cable separately, does not come with one). What I love the most is its dead silent background and huge volume range even with ridiculously sensitive iems like the Bonneville. For context, with an Apple dongle, the Bonnevilles can only handle one or two clicks from zero before it’s too loud. The M4 has tremendous, dead silent volume range on lo-gain.

Doing a little A/B-ing between 1DD+4BA and 1DD+6BA. Not only is the tuning different, but those extra BAs seem to be doing a good amount of extra work for detail retrieval. Pula PA02 and Mangird Tea 2.
The PA02 is very smooth and relaxed, and the Tea 2 is a more energetic W sound. They're both enjoyable without a doubt.

The last time I went to Japan was 5 years ago when I had a ZX300 and XBA-Z5.
I decided to take my WM1Z (and IER-Z1R) to demo some iems, but the weight and dimensions of my 1Z with hard carry case has me seriously considering the A306 with the JD7 for the next trip.

Ive owned many Fiio IEMs and they punch above their weight for very competitive prices....you aint wrong with that
