Portable- Ipod Nano 8gb, ALO Cryo Dock, Xin Supermicro, Shure E500

Transportable- Redwine Ipod Photo 60gb, ALO Cotton Dock, Xin Supermacro

I need to get a portable amp, is the SuperMacro a big improvement in the sound on your iPod?

I think the sr-71 (best of the 3) and supermicro are better right now, but I have an old revision of the supermacro. I am sending it in next week for updates (those are free from Xin), and from what I hear I expect it to compete if not surpass the sr-71.

To answer your question- Yes- all three portable amps that I have had dramatically improve the sound of the ipod.

I bought the SLVR a while ago to replace my washed out Razr, with all the hype that Motorola created about it's audio capabilities, I was expecting something stellar. Sadly, I was really dissapointed with the SQ. My sister's Sony W810i, sounds significantly better.

I have heard that Rockbox extends the iriver battery time, compared to the original firmware. Not sure if it doubles the playback time (from 16 to 32 hours) though...

Not quite.

Rockbox does extend battery life, but like caramelsoul said, you can replace/upgrade the battery in both the H1x0 and H3x0 series players. They go all the way up to 2300mAh if I remember correctly. Sometimes the fit can get a little tight if you upgrade the HDD as well, so some remove this blue rubber padding that's in there. Hope this clears things up.

Those look great! I'll bet they sound every bit as good as they look too!

So of the CryoDock and the CottonDock, which do you prefer? I mean sonically.
