Current state of the listening room 8 days before we get our new wood stove (which will be off on right side in the fireplace area… best thing I ever did was to move the Tice Power Block/Titan transformers and the Classe’ DR9 Amp to the basement under the listening room. Long (balanced) interconnects from all my gear, now located in a built-in 6 feet behind and to right of my listening area. The power amp connects into the Tice units, as do all the front-end components; so I have total/true “star ground” with everything on one protected circuit. That change brought my noise floor down to almost inaudible (which is good, because the room itself residual noise is around 30-32dBA when things like heat aren’t running
Super open and clear staging now with literally NOTHING at the speaker/business end of the room. The recent updates including Hana SL, and Yggy round things out nicely. That’s Bismarck barking at the Dogs he KNOWS are THERE somewhere! (Playing Pink Floyd Animals at the time)…
I cannot recommend enough getting *everything* away from between/behind your speakers; it has always improved everything in my experience.

Been spending time with the Cayin "888 +2" stack lately, which is comprised of:
+ iDAP-8 transport, which plays local files or streams from a NAS, Tidal, Qobuz, etc
+ iDAC-8 which has selectable tube or solid-state output stages
+ iHA-8 solid-state headphone amplifier which is unbelievably potent
+ HA-2A headphone amp which has NOS tubes already included
In this pic I'm using the LCD-5 and it sounds excellent, particularly for such a relatively affordable and compact setup. Sure does look nice together as well!

Yeah, it really works very well after all these years; constant use since 1990 (new), with only a short 3 years packed up while I lived in Texas and didn’t have room for the big rig.
I can highly recommend the Hana SL as a good moderately priced MC which works a treat in the SME309 and on the SOTA. Also recommend the Skoll phono pre; it is up to the rest of the system.
The only thing my SOTA needs at the moment is for me to find the time to replaced the belt (prophylactticly) and I could use a good re-polishing of the dust cover (which I may be disconnecting anyways to rearrange those shelves to make space for Stjarna when it is available.
I envy you to have 'em on constant use, I bought mine new in late 1980's while I was in Missouri. It was running well even after I moved here, which until the late 2018 When I moved to a new place which I lost the headshells, and some.
I will check the Hana SL, it somehow sounds familiar, thank you.
The Duetta been holding well on you too? I once had the Stage for awhile before I moved to the Logans, then I settled with the Dunlavy. It was hard moving form ribbon or electrostatic to dynamic I tell you.
The last time I checked my dustcover, it was still good but the hinges kind of weakened.

Yeah, the Hana’s seem to be from the original Scan Tech legacy of top notch MC’s back in the early 90’s (my first was an AQ-7000), but Lyra are also of similar familial “lineage” and sound. (To my ears anyways).
My Duetta Sigs are STILL functional, don’t yet have the dreaded buzzing woofers due to suspension decay. I’m blessed in that regard because the mere thought of moving away from ribbon/planars to anything else terrifies me. I remember my in depth research and checking back in 1990 when I had a big chunk of money to apply. I listened to ALL the best stuffs, and planars, and most especially Apogees (I couldn’t afford the Divas at the time, nor have a room big enough for them). Friend in listening group moved from his Maggies to ML’s, but to my ears their bass character never blended seamlessly.
Should they “die” (Apogees), I’m resigned to have to step a bit down to something like Maggie 1.7s, because now that retirement is imminent, I can’t justify the HUGE coin to get replacement ribbons and get them installed. Though I’d be mighty tempted.
At least with electronics (today), there is now a wealth of very powerful amps that can handle Apogees; not the case back in 1990. It was pretty much ML, Classe’, Threshold, and the biggest most expensive of the CJ’s and ARC’s…I was coming from an ARC SP3A tube pre and Adcom 555 feeding Vandersteens at the time. So I raced tube systems and SS systems. But, once decided on the speaker, that pushed me over the edge into the Classe’ gear - which I’ve never regretted. The DR6R has died (last year), and needs cap replacement (I’m in a queue for that), but the DR9 has just kept chugging along (it blew up on me in around 2007; my cat puked into the top of it, and a hairball shorted it out!). Classe’ honored my lifetime warranty and paid to have it shipped, repaired and shipped back. So perhaps that gave it a bit extra lease on life. If/when it should die/need re-capping, I’ll likely just get a pair of Schiit Tyr’s, I know they can handle the Apo’s…

I was so queasy using ribbons or electrostatics here in the tropics, thats why I forced myself to accept dynamics. Hopefully your Duetta Sig will provide you more years to come Man... Really once you hear them ribbons man... hard to move anywhere. Yeah I agree even ML was no match for the apogees, but they do indeed need room to breathe, which I didnot have.
Haha you made me remember Classe I used to have them, that was a well made electronics. Oh I was using the ARC SL1 feeding the GFA555 to the Steens as well, haha that was my first "audiophile" system, fed by California Audio Labs tube CD player. I was fondling different Cd player with tubes to find the sound I was yearning for, at the end it was the Sota and sold the various CD Player hahaa.
Yeah it's a pity now not many ribbons available.
