Just picked it up from Compusa.

So far, i'm very impressed. All the dock really adds is line out. Gone is the regular firewire cable. The new cable has firewire on one end, and the proprietary connector on the other end. That can be plugged into either the ipod or the dock.

For the most part, the dock will only be used when I need line out.

This thing is abosolutely *tiny*

I'm loading musicmatch right now to transfer some alt insane encoded songs.

its *official* musicmatch sucks..

Just loading the apple software, I had to register twice!

But as least I was able to load songs quickly and smoothly..

This thing sounds just as good as my old 20GB. It goes quite loud.. I can't wait to take this home and try the line out with my Meta42.

Wow, it's so much thinner than the old one!

Can you post some pics comparing their backplates?

That's absolutely beautiful Stan. Congrats..use it in good health.

You must do a battery test for us Mr. Guinne pig

8 hours was the told time...but if you could do a test using either lossless or really highly encoded files to get varied battery life time ..that would be really cool of ya

The old one looks like a freegin' monolith compared to the new one..wow.

Stan, I have a question about the cradle.

If I want to use the lineout with my stereo, but my computer is in a different room, can I use the lineout w/o having a firewire cable hooked up?

I presume that if it works you're running off battery power though as it doesn't appear that there a plug in for a wall wart.

Anyone know if it's possible to make a wall wart that terminates in a firewire plug. If so what voltage does it take and how much current do you need?
