I already have a philips SHE9550 and I plan to replace it with the Koss portapro but since the price range is a tad bit too similar and that SHE9550 also seems to be a bang for ur buck, I wonder...is it really worth it? anybody tried doing listening tests on both?

VS.

The PortaPro wins for sound-stage certainly, and likely loses in the isolation department... Get the PortaPro, as its sound is likely different enough, if not better than the Phillips (which is what I'd bet) to warrant spending $30 on the Koss.

It's your lucky day, because I own them both.

I will have to say the 9850 is much better than the PortaPro.

Clarity, detail, balance, are all superior in the 9850. It's also a really nice looking headphone too.

I can give you more detail later, as I I'm about to head off to bed.

Just ask if interested.
