Philips PMPs

Aha, so Philips mp3-players are not recommendable? All I need to know is if Philips PMPs/DAPs are worth having regarding good sound quality.

No, not if SQ is an important factor. I'll give you a couple of recommendable types: Cowon i9, Sansa Clip or Clip +, Sony E or S series.

As stated before, in fact Philips mp3-players have excellent SQ (at least the higher models). They win comparison reviews in German hifi magazines on a regular basis against Cowons, Sansas and Sonys. It's only their half-baked firmware that lets them down. And Fullsound is a gimmick that adds more hiss than SQ.

I read about the GoGear SA5285/BT. Nice little device but I think a Sansa Clip (+) or Sony S-series is better for what I'm looking for, maybe a Cowon D2.
