[Deep Funk]

Howdy,

I've been on the look out for a while. A Sony S728/9, Sansa Clip or a D2 as long as it's not an Ipod and the software isn't trying to invade your PC.

Now in the Netherlands what you want isn't always there. The internet is helpful but even then your choices are still limited.

There are however other options. In the Netherlands Philips and Creative are very popular brands for portable music players. Creative is supposed to be O.K. and even good for some models. Philips however puzzles me a bit for I haven't found many reviews on the Philips mp3-players.

What my fellow headfiers is your experience with Philips mp3-players?

I have the Philips Spark thanks to the special audible offer, which is one of the only players that has been positively reviewed by anythingbutipod....

and i have to say, i really like it... The sound is surprisingly good, i can imagine it could rival the clip, with its nicer screen, and nice battery life (30h)... it also supports flac...

i love the interface, and the way the d-pad works... it looks nice too...

IME Philips players have excellent SQ but shaky firmware. Last one I had was the GoGear SA5285/BT.

It seems Philips contibute more decent mp3 player parts, such the digital amp chip or audio processing chips.

the last time i had philips is model sa6025, which the sound is bad, i dont know the newer model with Full Sound Technology is really usefull or not

^ IME Full Sound Technology is not really usefull as it introduces hiss.

Illuminati, I live close to Amsterdam and can get on bus 44 just to take a quick look in the Mediamarkt in Bijlmer Arena. I checked the Mediamarkt in Hoog Catharijne too and we in the Netherlands lag behind. Ipod this, Ipod that but where are the Sony S7XX series? What about the Zune? For some products the internet, specialists and tweedehands are the only options.

Ik denk dat je nog niet goed genoeg gezocht hebt. Je kunt in Nederland makkelijk aan Cowon en Sansa spelers komen. Kijk hier eens.

Dat van de Cowons en Sandisks wist ik al. I've been on the hunt for a good mp3-player for months now. Marktplaats and Ebay really hide some gems. Back to Philips please...

With all due respect but why are you talking about Philips then? There are several great brands that make terrific DAP's. Philips isn't one of them. If you do want a Philips and you can't find in Holland than you won't find it abroad too.
