Philips Fidelio X2?!

Thing is, I live in Pakistan and as far as I know, we don’t have proper audio stores here and I can’t find amps/DACs anywhere online, so the Apple adapter is my best bet.

Thanks for the help guys!

Although on-board audio outs are better now than they were say a decade ago, a solid standalone DAC/amp combo would do the trick. Now nicely sounding products can be had for fairly low investment.

Any recommendations for a good DAC/amp combo that can be found on Aliexpress.com under $100?

The Fiio BTR5 does a great job and powers the X2 with ease. It had a high gain seeing for some extra power if needed. It also has bluetooth which sounds good if you up the clock setting to '1' in the Fiio app. This gives it better quality at the cost of lower battery time. It sounds great with. Although I've got better desktop dac/amps, I still like to use my BTR5 regularly.

Guys i'm kinda confused....i was watching some reviews on the apple usb to audio and it has really high sinad scores(i dont know what that means tho).higher than the k5 pro whicjh has really low score....unfortunately i know nothing of these measurements and specs.

I saw people saying that buying expensive dacs is a waste of money etc etc...I bought k5 pro with the idea that i would buy an hd 600 in the future....Was it waste of money?Could i just buy a amp under 100 and a cheap dac similar to apples?I'm confused

Some people would also say that buying costly cars/houses/watches etc. is a waste of money. The principle is the same.

I don't think so. From what I can tell K5 if quite liked here.

Guys, I'm sorry, I mislead you. The problem was not my PC's on-board audio, but rather that I had turned the 'mono audio' setting in Windows on. It runs fine with the on-board audio as far as I can see.

It still gives me a lot more volume with Apple's USB-C adapter though. :)

The 600 would sound extremely different. They're very neutral so would sound quite dull/boring to a lot of people switching from one to the other. Still worth trying for sure, just expect a major difference.

That is kind of the path that lead me the the X2HR. I was a speaker guy before I got into head phones and had been using some $20 SkullCandy earbuds for music on the rare occasion I wanted music w/o bothering everybod else in the house. I also DX radio and was using a pair of Panasonic RP-HTX7 for that because they were good for treble which helps dig out poor radio signals out of the noise. Then I started using them for music - they were much better sounding than the Skull Candy earbuds. No kidding. I started wanting more from them; specifically bass. The HTX7's had a lot of detail and I like to hear the cymbals crash and guitar strings clearly and were ok for heavy metal, classic rock, acoustic rock and jazz but were terrible for pop, rap or edm. So I did a lot of research for something in the $150-200 range and settled on the Sennheiser HD598 Cs. I put them on and was a little disappointed. They had the bass and good mids but lacked the detail I liked in metal and acoustics. This caused me to experiment with DIY cans and I made a pair that had a little of the best of both worlds. They had good detail with metal, good mids and decent bass but the bass lacked clarity.

From there I used the HD 598Cs for pop and EDM and my DIY cans for Rock and metal...both for jazz on occasion as that is where they overlapped fairly well. Eventually I started doing research on cans that would give me the detail I liked and a little more bass. This lead me to the X2HR's. So far I have not been disappointed. On the occasion I am listening to a lot of bass-heavy music I will still go to the HD 598's; but for general listening I now primarily use the X2HR's.

How does the X2HR hold up today? I’m considering getting a pair of bassy cans to complement my new HD 6XX’s but I was thinking of getting a closed backed headphone like the Meze 99 Noir or the Beyerdynamic 880
You only need to read back through recent posts. Lots of people showing their love for the X2/X2HR. Many of those with more expensive headphones as well.

I'm happy to read that you were able to find the problem and easily fix it. Enjoy your audio :)

I still enjoy my pair. I use it primarily for gaming, and spotify / lower quality music. If you want a fun signature it's surprisingly good for the price. It's not really a bass cannon but it has significantly more low end than a lot of the headphones I've owned.

Just checking, did you mean the 770? The 880 are open back (or described as semi open). They don't feel or sound closed. They are an excellent headphone though!
