Philips Fidelio X2?!

I'm thinking of buying a T5p gen 2 too now that there prices has gone down. How do they compare to the X2? Aren't they too bright comming from it?
I don't find it brought, especially not compared to much of the rest of the Beyerdynamic range. To me the fun of headphones is having a difference between them, otherwise what's the point in owning more than one? The T5p are one of the best closed cans for soundstage as well, I highly recommend. But the earpads can be uncomfortable. I picked up Elite leather Dekoni pads, they pair like a dream.

Who here bought their X2HR from Amazon? I'm looking to buy an X2HR that doesn't have Glued Pads.

Which seller did you get it from?

Thanks

I don't believe the X2HR ever had glued pads. There was a run of the original X2s that had glued pads, but if you're ordering a new pair X2HRs it seems very doubtful that you'd receive an old X2 instead.

Does the tension on the headband loosen up a bit over time? I have pretty big head and it feels like the ear cups are constantly being pulled upwards because of the tension of the headband.

It does, but it takes a while. You can speed that loosening up by hanging the headphones on a stand from the suspension strap. Or, you can use a zip tie, ribbon, string, etc. to lock the suspension strap in place. Just put the headphones on your head, adjust them for comfort, and then, and good luck with this part, tie them in place while you're still wearing them. If done properly, the suspension strap will flex upwards, but not push downwards on your head.

guys i recently bought my x2xr's from amazong germany and i dont know for sure but i think they are glued?if they are not it means i can take them off?
I can see the problem here, when you order from Amazong you get the glued pads, when you order from Amazon you'll get the non-glued pads.
Now serious, what makes you think they are glued? I am 99% certain your X2HRs don't have glued pads and that you can take them off.

They haven’t sold glued pads for years. All current headphones have unglued pads.

It doesn’t really matter much though, as the pads aren’t replaceable due to the unavailability of stock replacement parts. So the only thing the unglued pads allow you to do is remove the pad and ooo and ahhh at the driver.

I don't know why the glue thing is still an issue. Sure Philips started to glue the earpads on because people were complaining the earpads kept falling off. The first batches did have an "over-glue" problem occasionally, and I'm pretty sure the biggest problem was being caused by the owners themselves ripping the earpads, checking to see if theirs were glue on. As far as I can tell that has long been fixed, and like @Slater posted while I was typing this, you can't buy replacements anyhow.

Hi guys,

Just wondering, are X2HR good for movies?

Thanks!
If you watch movies with 7.1 and dolby atmos for headphone, the sound field becomes so wide sometimes it's honestly freaking amazing. And it's so natural it's like sound is coming from somewhere in the room. Very immersive. That said, mid is a bit distant so dialogue is occasionally muffled and hard to make out.

Exactly correct in all respects.

When I bought my X2s nearly 4 years ago, a debate was raging about glued vs unglued X2 pads; and which company (Woox vs not Woox) was branded on the box. There has been a mini-tempest raging on Amazon.com with some buyers irate over receiving X2s with glued pads & other defects.

I thought myself extremely lucky to purchase a new-in-unopened-box pair of X2s w/non-glued pads and the right company branding (forget what that was--but it was OK). They were perfect straight out of the box and satisfied me greatly starting at first listen.

Really haven't heard anything in past 3 yrs or so about glued pads on X2s or X2HRs. I think it's a non-thing/thing at this point.

FWIW, if I were looking to get a Philips Fidelio at this moment, I'd beat the bushes for a new X2HR and stay on the sidelines, maybe a long time, re the X3. I just don't like things I'm reading about that one. And given Philips history, the X3 may change, possibly a lot, before this is over.
