Philips Fidelio X2?!

The X2HR are the only headphones I have for music right now. My Razer headset don't count since that's for gaming. I love the build quality of these Philips, it's ultra sturdy and the sound is good!

I also agree that the wire it came with is way too long. SUPER long. I recently got a 1 meter / 3.3 ft cord to replace it. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/need-help-choosing-out-cable.975462/

Can anyone recommend a shorter cable I could use with the Philips X2 as sometimes I find the 9 foot cable a bit too much especially when sitting at a desk listening off laptop/amp?
Sure can. I got two or three cables for my Fidelio X2 from Ghent Audio. Shorter (I chose 2M), very inexpensive and the sound was slightly better than that over-long stock cable.

I chose this particular model because the X2 needs 3.5mm at the earcup, and I used only 6.35mm on my single-ended amps at the time. But if you need something different, just search around--or better yet, email Tsu Ghent. He's very helpful:

I had a look round for alternative cables to replace the standard cable on the Fidelio X2 as I had broken the TRS plug at one end. Worn out!:relaxed:

So I contacted a few folk and there is some nice stuff around but at a decent length it was coming in a bit pricey. However these cables looked good.

But with the length I needed I was getting close to £70 +. Believe it or not after scouring the inter web I did not find any OEM cables available, there was one available but again this was about £35. So I decided to go down another route. It was much more cost effective to actually buy a brand new set of Philips X2HR which cost £96 delivered!. Oh and they throw a new cable in for free!!!:relaxed:

Just received my new pair of Philips X2HR headphones which I bought to replace a pair of X2's and obtain a new cable!. Interestingly philips state in their literature that this cable is specifically chosen for its capacitance match with the headphones. It also utilises kevlar in the braided mix so they obviously decided to manufacture a high quality product. The capacitance issue would be key for me knowing how different capacitance cables can alter the sound of anything attached to them and especially with headphones.

So listening tonight and switching between the X2 and X2HRs I can hear a definite very slight uplift in the treble area but only enough to shine a more intense light on high frequency information and detail. My original X2s do sound a little rolled off or restrained in comparison and with my aging hearing its nice to get a slight uplift in the treble region.

Of course this may all be about comparing a very old very well used pair of headphones to a brand new pair!:relaxed:

Anyhow I am more than pleased with the very rapid delivery from Amazon Philips store of these brand new headphones... so obviously Philips still have this old model still in stock!

Kinda' in the same boat as regards aging ears (70). My X2 is nearly 10 years old, and 4 years ago I bought the X2HR as backup, only listening to it briefly before storing. Might be time to bring it out if the treble is somewhat more that the OG. Will give it a try this weekend. Appreciate your comments, and the thread. Just highlights the strong affection some people still have for this headphone. I know I still love my X2. Rock on!!
