Philips Fidelio X2?!

I did the same thing. I owned the HD700 and HD650. Sold both after I got the X2... Love them for everything except they are a little large for me. Wish they fit like the Senn.. I will most likely end up getting a pair of HD600 However.

You can always sell your X2s to me or if you like, get my Fidelio L2s in exchange

Nothing except for extended low notes. And it's almost a third less money. I loved the sound of the HD700. In fact I thought it was close to my Ribbon Tower speakers in the mids and highs. Just couldn't justify the price over the X2. I only use headphones if I have too anyways.

Could you describe some of the diferences of the X2 in relation to the hd 650, in terms of sound signature? I got the the hd 650 recently and i like them, but i wonder if the x2 are "faster" and
do have a more tight and deep bass then the 650´s?

Btw why are you considering the 600, considering you have the x2 with similar sound, and had the 700?

The sound is completely different. The HD650 are great and the mids are better. I however don't like the top smoky sound to the HD650. The top end is more clear on the X2. I hear a V sound on the X2. The mids are almost two recessed. The overall sound was more enjoyable on the X2 to me. I would own both but don't listen to headphones that much. Now I did think the HD700 was better than both of these. But way more expensive too.

Thanks for the help, i thinking to get the x2 to complement the 650 with a more fun V shape headphone. I do like the tilted driver in the x2
Same tecnology as the 800hd and the beyer T1. Never heard the 700hd though, but i agree they are a tad bit expensive. And i´m not much of a treble fan. As a flat headphone i´m thinking getting the 880dt 600 ohm which some say it sounds similar to the hd800 and t1 but way less expensive.  But still have to look further.

DT880 is NOT flat... They sparkle in the high end. I owned the T1 at one time and they are not as bright as the DT880. The X2 has a great upper end and lower end.

I heard about 880 sparkle to (Innerfidelity for ex. ), but is not as much as the 990 as most people say. And bass is more refined and deeper in the 880 compared to the 990 they say. Especially when amped.
What would you sugest at the same price range? HD600 is good option, but some say they lack speed and bass. I mostly listen to House :) The X2 is cool for that, but i would like a flat, fast headphone to make contrast with HD650 (warm, musical, "slow", bass tilted) with X2 ( v shape, fun) you know.
I dont think that hd650 is slow, but i wonder why many say that. Same for the hd600.

The X2s sound great straight from my iPad air 2 but once I hook up to my desktop ( uberfrost/Asgard 2) the sennheiser hd 600s just sound better in fact the X2s are the only headphone I've ever owned that have the best synergy straight from my iPhone or iPad for some strange reason when using any amp with the x2s the sound seems to fall apart the bass gets bloated and the overall sound isn't as good it could be the 1/8 to 1/4 adaptor that came with it is bad but it's a night and day difference. Also I have used the oppo ha-2 with both headphones and still prefer straight from iPad for the x2s. As far as the sound straight from my iPad is amazing it best my hd598s and is my main go to for portable use I just can't get any synergy with any amp I try.

I would like to add that the oppo ha-2 didn't have the bloated bass that I got from my desktop amps and in fact had a cleaner sound than straight from iPad but it also sounded a bit thin and is the reason I chose not to buy the oppo ha-1 as I didn't want a sterile/ bright sounding amp/dac.

I'm sorry but I've got to disagree, the mids are not recessed neither is the X2 V shaped, I would even say the mids are slightly forward at times depending on the source, but definitely not recessed.

The X2's balance is simply excellent. The bass is strong, but barely bleeds into the mids. Treble and mids also seem to be exactly leveled, causing the X2 to be neither sibilant, nor dull nor mid-recessed. But it also avoids the hollow "telephone-sound" of mid-centric phones.
