The x2 reveals more details of the music than the 558, so those bad recordings will sound, well, worse.

Exactly.
And I read before buying theses that they were forgiving compared to others

(or I didn't read right, wouldn't be the first time).

Anyway, i think this is why I probably won't go higher than my X2. (If still in good shape, that's it).
BTW, how forgiving are "higher" HP compared to the Fidelio X2 ? (like the HD800 or LCD2 ?)

No idea,i am not in that kind of league yet lol
But i don't think someone with hd800 or lcd2 would want any bad recording in their collection anyway.

I'm thinking about buying an Aune T1 Mk2 to pair with my X2's...

Anyone know if they're a good match?

The InnerFidelity review mentioned that the X2's might not go well with an "high output impedance tube amp"; does that mean that the X2's and the Aune's won't go well together?

The Aune T1 is a tube DAC with a solid state Amp section.  It will have a low output impedance and should go just fine with the X2's.  What Tyll was referring to is the OTL style tube amps like the Bottlehead Crack that are meant to drive high-impedance headphones like HD600/650, etc.  The Crack would likely be a paid bad pairing with the X2 because of the impedance mismatch.

Thanks for clearing that up, decided to go with the Magni2/Modi2 stack instead after reading a bit about quality control issues with the Aune

Thanks for the reply I ended up splitting the difference and ordering a like new,  I'll be swapping the cable with a V- Moda BoomPro so hopefully I won't have any noticeable imbalance issues.  If I do Amazons easy enough to deal with.

Just got my notice from Amazon that they have shipped, due April 2nd! 11 days after order, I am stoked as original delivery date was April 16-30.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement cable with a 3 button remote/mic? 50% of my listening will be on my Iproduct.

Are you planning on taking these outside?

Anyway, the Beats cables look like they'll work.
