yep, there's been other threads (don't recall specifically which) with such discussions and some of the more experienced Head-Fi'ers indicated that multiple of the modern dynamic drivers have a similar look.

Yep, well a google image search with "headphone driver" is enough to see that they all look similar

  +1
Here more info how Philips engineered the Fidelio drivers.

Thanks for that, well it looks like they maybe too a few design ideas from Grado, and a few others, to produce what seems like the headphone Grado should have been making years ago. Really interested in trying to grab a pair.

Honestly I don't think Grado have anything at all to do with Philips driver designs.. the sound is also quite different, judging by how Grado sound is described (never tried them yet)

Does anyone know the OEM for the X2 drivers?

The design of these look very similar to a improved Grado.

Anyone know of any link between Grado and these?

The drivers also look near identical.

I agree, they look exactly like Grado drivers.

There are lot of drivers that look same but sound different. C`mon guys, stop it, X2 has nothing to do with grado.

Call me ignorant but I'm unclear of the implications should we discover the X2's drivers are actually Grado drivers…

Are you guys paid by someone to say nonsense like that? Not to be rude but it's really hard to be serious when saying that Grado has anything to do with Philips drivers.

Some ppl are blind and belive anything they want. Look at those pics posted by EdibleStereos - one driver has membrane lines going one direction and second the other way. One has hole in middle of magnet, other doesn`t.
But maybe, MAYBE it`s KOSS!!! http://www.head-fi.org/t/202122/the-headphone-driver-pics-thread/195#post_7715086  ...just kidding, LMAO.

I didn't say Philips drivers are Grado drivers. I said they look exactly the same. Turbulent Labs X drivers are made in Canada and look exactly the same too, and are 32 ohms.

I wouldn't mind anyway...I like Grado drivers.

an audio technica one

Beats by Dr. Dre

Koss Pro dj100

I can go on and on. Some drivers look absolutely the same even if they are not.

Let's settle this for the love of god.
