it announces new Perreaux SXH2 ($899).

How much is that after NZD to USD conversion?

About $584.83 USD ($1 USD = $1.537 NZD)

i doubt its 33.6% better than SXH1

Why not? I don't think that would be too difficult a feat...

To end all confusions on prices, I just called a local reseller here in NZ.

The RSRP is NZ$899, but he's willing to offer me a brand new unit for NZ$720. I also asked about the SXH1, and he said it's being replaced by the SXH2, therefore the price has dropped to sub-NZ$500.

Now I'm tempted upgrade my setup ahead of schedule (was gonna be around Christmas, as a gift for myself

). Head-Fi is evil, I tell you, EVIL!!

NZ$720.00 is around $475.00 USD, NZ$500.00 is around $330.00 USD, the first is not bad if what they claim is true...the second is still over what we paid for ours to AA...

Hey there!

Greetings from South Africa ... and apologies for dragging this thread back from the dead ...

I have an opportunity to buy a Perreaux Silhoutte SXH2 new and sealed in the original box for about half the official retail price. With no local Perreaux distributor or agent, is this is great idea or ... or is it daft?

For context: I already have an SPL Phonitor (original model), and sometimes use my NAD D1050 and NuPrime uDSD DACs as headamps as well. The Phonitor is great with the HD800, HD600 and HD540 Reference Gold Senns, as well as the entry-level Grado SR60i's and a couple of less illustrious cans. However it is at its best with high impedance cans, and I'm thinking of adding orthos from the Audeze or Hifiman stables. Anyone have experience with the SXH2 and say LCD2 or HE-560?

The SXH2 has been around for over 10 years now ... What are the known issues with this model? Is it generally reliable? Can circuit diagrams be obtained? Is it a worthwhile addition at around US$300, or what else should be considered in the price range?

Many thanks!
