Am i the only one that thinks that most of these pens out there are a
complete rip off. From my parents estate i have a number of "resin" pens
from the 1920's to 1950's. These days worth a fortune. But my opinion
is that they were then cheap plastic, and today they are still cheap
plastic. What i want is a solid gold or solid platinum pen. No one makes
those.

I had one Parker '51 and one Parker '61 fount pens, but they were gold plated, not solid, but very nice indeed, nobody makes them now....

The Montblanc Meisterstuck line caries gold and platinum pens.

If somone has a modest Parker, stainless steel made or something like that, and want get rid of it just mail it to me, I will not get into this madness, and I work in an office, but no way Jose, that I will spend my hard earned bucks in pens, while the R-10 is still there laughing at me....

Hmmm...there is the Mazzuoli Pen which is more or less a solid piece of metal. I'm told it works quite well as an improvised impact weapon.

Here's what I carry around, a Cross Century II ballpoint in chrome. It looks good (if you ask me

) and is built very solidly yet it isn't overly expensive. I used to carry a fountain pen (Lamy), but although it is an absolute pleasure to write with, it isn't very pratical (I ruined two pairs of pants with it

Most expensive pen I bought was a Lamy swift, I thought it was cool because it was one of the first retractable rollerballs, I hated to remove a cap to use a pen. I liked the design but hated the writing quality, it would just go blank while writing.
Have a fisher space pen kept in the crease of my wallet.
The one I use the most is the popular Pilot G-2, love it's vibrant ink and smooth writing qualities and it's retractable.
No more pen buying for me. Getting them from the office supply cabinet or company account from now on.
The Lamy has a beautiful metalic laquer finish and is comfortable for my arthiritic hand. I can't hold those slim cross's, the Dr. grip is one of the most comfortable pens around.

I use a cross morph.

My dad had a priceless stash of pens (many mont blancs, cartier, etc)
stolen from his office by some wacked out client one time. These types of things aren meant to be uesd for work, and it's kind of hard to deal with these things if there value is up there with jewlery!

I'm too irresponsible to worry about a 2 grand pen or something being left or misplaced. If i have something like jewlery, it better be something i can wear like a watch or ring ; )
